993Targa:
Just went to my local dealer because I needed some information about kids and a 991. My twin girls are almost 4, so they still need a child seat. The salesman did not recommend to take young kids (2-6 yrs) in a 911, because there is too little space. If they are older they can sit without a child seat and there is sufficient space.
Are there Rennteam-ers who have experience with a child seat in the back of their 991 or older 911? Seat in the front doesn't work because I have twins.
With kids 2-6 years old, there are no issues with the 911 and the child seat actually makes them feel and sit comfy. Up to the age of 9-10 years of age, the 911 is OK in the back. Over 10 years of age, it can get uncomfortable, especially with child seats (up to 12 years of age and/or under 30kg weight, depending on the country you live in) even more in the cabriolet because the backrest is slightly inclined forward (vs. the Coupe backrest).
So for your kids, the 911 is just fine, I don't have a clue what the salesman is talking about. Maybe he wanted to sell you a different car? Safety is a different issue though because I'm not sure a 911 with a rear engine design is 100% safe for the rear passengers in a case of an accident. However, I haven't heard the opposite, so...
