Running in
I've only had used 911's before so I never had to go through the run-in period. What is the best way of running in a new 911 to secure best possible performance? My dealer was a bit shaky on the topic. Thanks.

Do not warm the car standing still. Drive it slowly and let it warm up. Do rev it up high after a 500 miles and do redline, alternating RPM's after 1000 miles. Well that's that's my opinion and I have had gr8 experience with my cars and hardly any problems

Never thought of that while the car was stopped and it makes sense. I read the articles in the link you posted it sounds like the correct way to brake in the engine. Now I just want to make sure I get my car with less than twenty miles on it!!!![]()

As has been described on this site several times before, 1 Porsche guy builds an engine. They run it for 10 minutes to warm it up, then run it at FULL POWER for 10 minutes and then at FULL TORQUE for 10 mins. If it doesn;t make 100% or more of its rated power they take it to pieces. Running in? Sure. Don't labour it or thrash it when brand new but rest assured the engine is strong and most of what you or I will do to it is not going to break it![]()
BTW only got the car 3 weeks ago...
