SportAuto Ring time just came in. 4 seconds faster (ajusted for speed traps) than 991 GT3. 7.28 v 7.32

macca, i was offered a GT3 NON RS....as you say 4 sec SLOWER than the RS. this might effect my daily driving seriously::::))))))Smiley 4

    cheers mate

Yes Peter. The NON RS is the best car for your useage I am sure. Buy it and enjoy (forget about the 4 seconds at the Ring).

Anyway Manu from Italy already posted his video as an amature (hilself)doing under SportAuto 7.32 in the stock RSR rental 991 GT3 so I think SA time was not particularly sharp for the GT3 (apparently VonHorst was not well and there was an issue with teh car). It wasnt BtoG either but full lap during a private Ring hire day IIRC. Maybe Manthy Racing customers.

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

    1. You cannot compare times between amateurs and SA (amateurs often use non-certified and/or non-calibrated equipment and they also measure times BTG)

    2. Horst von Saurma wasn't the driver and Christian Gebhardt is usually as fast as the Porsche test drivers.

Still, I don't think that the GT3 RS was slow on the Nordschleife but I also think that it didn't deliver the wonder(s) some people expected. It is a very good track car but not the track car.  Also forget about non-certified times claimed by other car manufacturers or drivers, they are often BS (read something about a sub-7 minutes time of a regular driver for the new Z06, this is just hot air).

You're not the first one Smiley  I went with (F) and never looked back Smiley

Why haven't they sorted out the engine issue, since the first recall that went mainstream World-cough-Wide ?

Are they too stubborn to admit the 9A1 isn't anywhere close to the old blocks durability, which was used in the 997 series ?

The rev limiter being reduced from 9,000 to 8,800 rpm is another mystery that P isn't ready to spit it out. Smiley

note: yeah, it's already been explained by (fans) about the 3.8 vs 4.0 SmileyI doubt P will ever give us a proper and cogent answer.

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

Exaggerations! Since 2008 Porsche have produced as many 9A1 engines as Ferrari will produce in the next 25 years.

Statistically a tiny part are bound to fail and Porsche are also very generous with their goodwill payments out of warranty.

I thought that was simply down to maintaining the same max piston speed with the longer-stroke 4.0.  No mystery there.

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

I just got from the dealer . He received his first RS ( for 918 owner ) .

He receives another one next month ( week 33 ) .... and it is not mine . I was supposed to be the 1st non 918 owner to get the RS at my dealer  sad

Mine is now scheduled for week 37, that makes it in the middle of September .

I don't know if my dealer gave me BS and I need to get at him    He told me that he passed my order first and he does not understand why the other one is getting his car before me ........  I did meet this other guy and he was very pushy and not easy to deal with ( I am way too nice  ) . So I am not sure if he did not at the end put the other guy's order first knowing I would be more '' cool'' to deal with

The other guy has taken hardly any options  . I have some  Exclusive option ( blacked lights, Porsche logo, air vents , black rims )

Does anyone know if that could be the reason for my car needing more time to be built then the other one, and would explain why mine is scheduled later ???

Here two pics of the RS....

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

    Eric,

for what i know every exclusive option take a day more of production.

For example, mine is this week in production, the end production is 20 July, then i think to have 3 days of exclusive(painted key, black rims, black leds)and will be ready around the 23/24 July, then will go in the parking ready to be uploaded on the truck.

My delivery is estimated in week 32(3/7 august) so is like to tell the car will remain in the parking for more than a week.My dealer as soon as have the WIN number(end production enclosed exclusive options) will try to make pression to let pick up for transport soonest.

So,next week i will let you know if really every exclusive oprion take a day or not...but a delay of weeks for me doesn't matter with this.

One thing i understand for sure,is that at least in Italy with the RS for production they follow yes the "order" of order placed by date(first older orders) but they follow also the rating of dealers.

To make it short i think to be one of the first that ordered the RS 2 years ago,but i think at least 10 cars are just delivered in Italy and mine not. Some dealers has just 2 cars delivered...my dealer zero, mine will be the first...so...

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

So somewhat related, (but still off-topic) Porsche appear to believe we should accept certain foibles with their cars as is becoming increasingly evident to me. My 991 is still at OPC after a week to "fix" a faulty window which intermittently doesn't close fully. The top tech has seen the problem once on my car but can't replicate it (this is the fifth time it's been in with the same fault) and the head of service is starting to insinuate I just live with it. Never has any issues with 997/996/986 or 993 which I simply had to accept!

In an attempt to placate & pacify, he said they'd had six 991 targas returned by different customers due to rattles\squeeks which Germany say are just part of the targa experience!

I haven't checked the previous posts, but I know one of the delays are for the super lightweight seats. That is a 10 week delay if you picked that option. My car went into build 10 days ago and will only be here on October as a result.

We discussed this delay quite a while ago, I think it was first announced in May or June. This is quite frustrating for some (potential) owners since many were expecting their cars in summer and now they are getting them in autumn, when the track season is almost over.

My car has the lightweight seats and so does the car of the other customer . This delay has already been calculated in . If no delay, I would of had the car probably now .

And my car has not gone into built yet .
