RS 991:I met two young guys in a Bmw 745i (E65) doing, I would guess around 160kph or even more on a narrow road where 90kph were allowed, if somethinhg would come across his way he would crash immediately, and much worse kill others, so stupid.
Yesterday, i drove over 300 km on the Autobahn. Many Autobahn sections were speed limited to 80(!) kph because of so called blow ups (see photo), sudden road damages which appear out of nowhere because of the excessive heat (we had a record 40°C (104°F) heat in Bavaria yesterday), making it very dangerous for drivers and especially bikers. Still, most cars passed me at around 120-150 kph, despite the fact that I was already doing 90 kph.
Also, had a guy in a tuned (he had a chip tuning sticker on this rear lid) BMW 335i "racing" me down the Autobahn, I passed him very slowly at over 240 kph and then a speed limit of 80 kph started and I immediately slowed down. I was already driving 80 kph within the speed limited zone when he passed me at full speed (over 200 kph). I don't even have a clue if he noticed the speed limit, probably not.
Many similar examples yesterday and look at how a "blow up" looks alike and you realize how dangerous not respecting the speed limit can be. These blow ups appear suddenly and without a warning.

We have the same problem in the States but it is usually caused by the combination of poor maintenance and heat.
Holiday traffic over the weekend placed an emphasis on poor driving skills and a general lack of civility. Too many drivers stay in the passing lanes while driving below the listed speed limits and, typically, those same drivers never vary from their predetermined speed when the limit drops in construction zones and near tolling stations.

Two whole seasons! We only have one - road construction since it is the payoff to the unions for financially supporting the mayor. We are also undergoing a major revision of our road system with the addition of dedicated bicycle lanes, replacing lanes for automobiles. I've been told that this is the sign of a 21st century city.

Ouch! My GT4 would not like to come across that! I have never seen road damage like that in Germany - that is more typically a US problem (crappy construction techniques).

Roads in Bavaria need to be OK for temperatures between -20 to +40°C. This is difficult to achieve, especially the older roads aren't made for these kind of extreme temperatures.
They already modified some older Autobahn sections, by "inserting" some sort of "expansion joints" but there is still a lot of danger at temperatures above 30°C. I am just very surprised that drivers aren't respecting the speed limits. This is a real and not an abstract danger.
