    Re: Alfa Romeo Giulia

looks like a less fussy, more cohesive Lexus IS .. but still generic apart from the drunk Alfa grille

    not a fan at all

    Re: Alfa Romeo Giulia

Despite in a general view isn't disgusting at all, definitely it is not my cup of tea.

If we're talking about Alfa Romeo we'd expect a special design and not a mix of Jaguar, Inifity, BMW. Kinda disappointing.

    Re: Alfa Romeo Giulia

I like it a lot, better than the Maserati actually. Problem is that I have a SUV as a daily driver and there is really no way back to a sedan or a station wagon. indecision

    Re: Alfa Romeo Giulia

I've had quite a few Alfas - Alfasud 1.3, Alfasud 1.3Ti, Alfasud Sprint Veloce 1.5, GTV 2.0, GTV6 2.5 and finally 164 3.0V6 Lusso. All were great cars because they were Alfa Romeos, not badge engineered Fiats which is what followed and never had any major issues with any of them. If the new Guilia is a proper Alfa then it should be great. But I agree with ISUK, UK dealers are dreadful, which could be their big obstacle here.

    Re: Alfa Romeo Giulia

very nice design and very nice interior!!!  F12 side profile looks very good....

    Re: Alfa Romeo Giulia

manual gear box 510 hp lot of nm, this must be a really fun car to drive, and if it costs around 70k euros, well you get super prestanda for a intelligent price, maybe it is no stupid after all, if i was on the way to buy a M or AMG or RS I will seriusly consider it .

I like it more and more...

Actually I'm starting to think that Lexus is on to something with their newer models and their new design direction. The NX looks amazing in F-Sport trim (with an attractive price tag) and the new RX too. I hadn't given much though to them until I heard someone saying  "Yes at first they look too strange to consider, but then you realize absolutely no other brand looks anything like it" , and it's true, BMW, Audi, Merc, and even Porsche are suffering from this diluted image. For what it's worth at least they look like someone desisgned the new models with some balls, they're not exactly works of art but there's some statements to be made and that's more than can be said of over half of the models from the germans.

And this is also why the new Alfa is interesting, too bad it doesn't have Lexus reliability to back up the crazy design and flare.

    Re: Alfa Romeo Giulia

I think the new Giulia doesn't look bad in pictures and I guess it will look good in real life, especially the standard version without all those bits and pieces, slits and vents, which are a bit too much for my taste.

The crucial question will be, can the - never perfect and in the meantime rather thinned out - dealer network of Alfa Romeo keep up with their good design efforts. Smiley

Just another Ghibli with Alfa Romeo badge and design?

I don't know... Yes, this car could be successful (if they price it right, the Ghibli certainly is too expensive and unattractive   for what it has to offer in my opinion) but I "get" the 4C more than the Giulia. Is it just me?

    Re: Alfa Romeo Giulia

The mission for the Giulia is the same as the one Jaguar have set for their new XE - win over new customers in much greater numbers than before. Neither car is ultimately aimed at the die hard car fanatics but simply targeting the majority of buyers for whom things that we all value highly don't even register on their purchasing criteria list. It's Alfa's version of the Cayenne in reality - it has to do good business to justify the investment in more sporting models. Yes there will be a performance flagship in the QV but sales of this are likely to be low and it is only a halo model. They will want to sell lots of four cylinder variants to business users and lease owners.

There are cars in the development pipeline that should be of more interest to enthusiasts - a new spider model and a new coupe (possibly a 6C type car following the Maserati Alfieri template). There are supposedly two SUVs in development with the first being aimed at the X3/Q5 market. The second - if it materialises - is a smaller model I believe. There is also a larger 5 series competitor coming.

The biggest task of all will be to recruit high quality dealers to support the product roll out. Alfa produced a range of attractive and fairly competitive cars in the late 90's but the dealer experience left many first time Alfa owners feeling let down and that meant no repeat business for the company with the subsequent collapse in sales volumes and no money to develop new cars.

somewhere read that max speed will be over 300kmh ????!!!!!!!

they are really pointing at performance, it sounds to me little alike the gtr, much prestanda for the price??

Makes sense - 510hp will do that, unless the car is very large and/or has lousy aero drag (or is electronically limited)...

That is really fast!  Also interesting that they said the motor was in 540hp tune.  Does that mean the lower-spec Ferrari Dino gets this motor detuned by 90hp?

Alfa should sell this car with a discount for Italian Delivery (like the Germans do, except Porsche) and they will sell a bunch. Smiley

If this car actually has 540hp (and then likely over 600Nm torque) then 7.43 with a dual-clutch gearbox does not seem impossible on the Ring.

This car is also available with manual 6-spd which is rare for a performance sedan today.  With turbocharged cars, it is easy for a manufacturer to deliver a car to a magazine or race track with a little "extra".  That's one of the nice things about the Supertest - one of the few magazines where they dyno test the motor.

Yes, I had to explain the Supertest to a Alfaholic at work Smiley He has been giggling over 7.43 like a little girl all day.

Nevertheless, the time does not seem implausible to me. Cars with high torque usually performs very well on the ring due to the long sections and some even uphill where less performant cars loose a lot. That is, if Alfa has got the weight under control Smiley but it does not look like a big car.

    Re: Alfa Romeo Giulia

Considering that an M4 clocks the ring at something around 7.50ish, this car may really be something spectacular.

    Re: Alfa Romeo Giulia

Well, let's put it this way... Forthcoming M4 GTS was clocked faster on the Ring then this Giulia (someone was at the Ring from competition and checked what are they doing), new 991.2 CS with WLS (power kit 450ps) was on the other hand faster then M4 GTS. All cars were on Cup2s or similar tires.

So, Alfa unofficially claim 7.43 and what is then time of M4 GTS and 991.2 CS (with WLS)? See my point?

    Re: Alfa Romeo Giulia

I think that it is just incredible that we are talking about an alfa ring time????!!!!!!!????!!?

If u see the past 30 years...it is science fiction movie....that this is happening.
