Re: McLaren on a winning streak

    noone1:

$100 says it beats the gt2 RS in a straight line. Giant wing isn't exactly drag free.

The 720s will certainly be quicker than the GT2RS in the straight line. The question to me is how these two cars will perform on the track. If McLaren got the suspension/TC setup right the GT2RS would be history. But so far the benefit of the doubt is with Porsche... Supertest will be super important Smiley

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

Faster version of RC's car vs the 720S. Maybe there was an ESP problem with it?

Well, even with a ESP problem, your GT4 would look pretty slow in comparison. Smiley

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

Here's a second video vs the Huracan. There is a second run after the one posted above.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

This video is crap. Difference can't be that big in that speed range (under 200 kph).

I drove "against" various 918 lately and the difference was much smaller (in the 0 to 200 kph range).

Unless of course the 720S is a lot faster than the 918.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

A 720S and a Performante demo cars recently arrived at the dealers in Munich and Stuttgart so in two weeks I am going to test drive them one after the other next to the 488. It is going to be like a small first impressions test.

The practical questions that I'd like to get answers to are:

    - How hardcore is the Lambo vs. the GT3 RS which is the maximum I can tolerate on public roads.

    - The engine sound and traction of the McLaren vs. the 488 which has the best ESP I've experienced and to me sounds just perfect.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

McLaren ESP are second to none. The got it right the first time around, it's how the P1 can be usable even with 900HP

For the 488, Ferrari sort of cheated by neutering the engine in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear.

I agree, McLaren has the best ESP/TC setup out there. Smiley Have not driven the 720S yet though.

Also would love to drive the 675LT myself, never got the chance (only as a co-pilot).

If the Performante has the same ESP setup as the standard Huracan, there will be no issues. With AWD, traction is limitless but we careful when you play around with the ESP (I would leave ESP turned on when using a demo car...).

I drive my R8 in Performance mode DRY with ESP active(!). Wonderful sporty/aggressive setup, probably not very comfortable (shifting is jerky but friggin fast) and with higher fuel consumption. I assume that you can do the same in the Huracan Performante (sportiest driving mode but with ESP turned on!).

I assume you can switch the Performante to a pretty comfortable mode (my R8 feels like a A8 sedan when driving in Comfort mode, unbelievable), so no worries here.

If you can afford it, get the Performante, the GT3 RS, the 488 and the 720S. Smiley All four! Perfect combo. Smiley

No AWD - but I would combine it with the turbo, which makes a good combination for all kinds of weather Smiley

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

If you keep your Turbo S, I would definetely go for the 720S. Otherwise you will basically drive the "same" (interior, engine, maybe partially even sound) car all the time. No fun!
