Re: McLaren on a winning streak

I mostly agree with you and am somewhat playing devil's advocate but at the same time losing $50k on a new Huracan purchase "hurts" more than losing $50k on a new Aventador.

I also think that if an R8 depreciates by 10% a year and a Huracan depreciates at 15% a year for what is in essence the same car that also tells you something that as a purchaser you should probably be mindful of.

I can find basically new R8 V10 Plus (new model) for 20-30k EUR below the MSRP in Germany but no Huracan. So in Germany, the R8 certainly depreciates a bit faster.

Same goes to the previous R8: Amazing deals are available in Germany, especially for the V10 Plus models (they consume quite a bit of fuel and German buyers care a lot about fuel consumption...) but I cannot find the same good deals for the Lamborghini Gallardo for example. Cars in good shape are always around at least 20k EUR more than their Audi R8 counterparts (comparing mileage and age).

Excellent test results of 570S in latest SA.

    0-100 3.2s

    0-200 9.2s

    Hockenheim 1:08,5min

    P Zero Corsa tires

But, car is also pretty nervous at the limit and requires a driver with good experience and knowledge.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

HHR - it is the same time like GT3RS angel

Acceleration is very fast - about 1,5 seconds faster then 991 GT3RS to 200 km/h

    Adnan,

Indeed. But.... 80% of 570S feels like 180% in 991 GT3 RS. Car is requiring a true "Kenner" behind a steering wheel. It lacks a true composoure of 991 GT3 or GT3 RS.

I wouldn't sign this. I own a GT3RS and I have driven myself a 570s on track. And I was sitting aside a professional driver in 570s on the same track. I felt a little bit more confident in my car. This could be subjective and not objective. I wouldn't say that you have to be a "Kenner" to drive the McLaren fast. Maybe the last 5% are more hard and more demanding.
The GT3RS has so much front axle grip and a lot of driver are used to drive a Porsche. Thus they get the feeling (in their mind) that a Porsche is easier to drive. Just an example, the steering of the GT3RS is very nervous when driving hard - for me it is not a problem at all - I know the car and I am confident. The steering of the McLaren is much better (much much better) - if I never had driven a GT3RS I would say that the GT3RS is hard to drive at limit (I mean my limit).

Will there also be a NBR time?  Impressive numbers!

I agree - the steering on the 570S is almost its defining characteristic.

Would love to drive one, but closest dealer is 850 miles away!  Hope they build a local dealership soon...

So is it 1:08.5 or 1:08.8 for the 570S?

    noone1:

It is 1:08,8min. I made a typo. Sorry...

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

Both ridiculously good times. 570S with Cup2 or Trofeos would be very quick on the track, and the 675LT, well, it's a monster.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

Well, Corsa are comparable to Cup 2 tires.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

I've always heard Cup2 are better. I feel like most people on ML are not a fan of the Corsas.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

Also, 675LT time is nothing special since Huracan LP610-4 achieved 1:07,5min on same Trofeo R tires. Not to mention that Huracan is 200kg heavier.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

Huracan is AWD and is a 2014 car. The 675LT is based on a car that came out in 2011.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

Isn't the Huracan an evolution of the Gallardo spaceframe?

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

I believe so, yes. It's hybrid Al and carbon fiber construction.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

I don't think any excuses need to be made for the LT.  It's the most track oriented model they make short of P1 track mode.  Who cares if based on MP4 from 2011....by that logic a 2016 GT3 RS is technically also based on a car that came out in MY2012 and therefore shouldn't be compared to other 2016 cars?  AWD can definitely be an advantage, but that's a design choice made by McLaren.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

Both drivers (or is it the same?) drive the car smooth, just Ausgang Querspange both cars a little nervous. I thought that the LT should be before corners little bit more stable due to better aero braking features. I didn´t see any markable differences in  braking.

given the Hype around the LT and it's current "market" values - the 570S or a 650S used propose massive fun for the buck - depreciation will make a 570S soon a fantastic choice for somebody looking for a supercar feeling

I hope for a depreciation, too. But I am not sure about the 570s. The price is very low for a car with this capabilities. If you take a km leasing McLaren calculates the rest value after three years very high and you don´t have any risk. You get a significantly better leasing offer then for a 991 turbo.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

570S of used 12C is the way to go IMO. If you put Trofeos on a 12C, it won't even be that far behind a 675LT on a track. I think a used 650S still has too much depreciation left in it. Pretty much every software update to the 12C made it better. Still, if you don't live near a dealer, don't buy a McLaren.

If I was willing to spend about $210K on any car right now, it would be a 570S, though I'd probably just wait a year to see what issues they have and how much the depreciate. It will depreciate, so the question is how much. A $180K 570S next year would be a great buy IMO. I'm also interested to see how much the R8 depreciates. I predict quite a lot being that the design isn't so fresh anymore. 991.2 TTS is depreciation-city though.
