Re: McLaren on a winning streak

570 is already at 12C MSRP price point.

    Just saying.

But the 570 interior is really a step up from the 12C/650/675/P1

Any pics of the blue 570?

There is a black S570 in the window of my local dealer and I have to say it looks very nice. I am tempted.

Looks pretty good in black indeed, still don't feel the design on the 570 models but it is growing on me.

I think the 570GT looked great in person. They are becoming a force to be reckoned with.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

The car is a winner. It seems that McLaren finally found an attractive design line. Very very sexy!

Any reason you didn't opt for the snorkel?

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

Any reason you didn't opt for the snorkel?

I'm not big fan of it aesthetically ( on the exterior) and it really does not serve much of a function. These things are all personal, of course, but I do think all the people speccing a snorkel plus front fender vents and carbon bonnet etc etc end up with a car that looks too fussy and is just 'trying too hard". Each to their own though.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

Yea, I agree. It can look very fussy with all the MSO stuff. I personally would have spec'd mine with body painted intake and the part of the diffuser on the outsides of the front since I think the front already looks fussy. I like the fender louvers, but only body painted as well. I didn't used to like them, but on the LT they are GT3 style, which I like.

The snorkel does look like a bit of an add-on/afterthought compared to really well done ones like the P1 and F1 LM, but I think it's one option that might carry a premium should the car stay appreciated, or maybe at least make it easier to sell being more rare.

Well, looking forward to hearing your driving impression since you've owned all the models. Have fun!

    McLaren 570S GT4

the new track-only 570S GT4 is based around McLaren’s lightweight carbon fiber MonoCell II chassis that now comes wrapped in a significantly wider body. The newly developed aerodynamic package tailored to GT4 specification includes a taller rear wing aimed to boost downforce on the rear axle.

There are also numerous carbon fiber bits to keep the weight down along with a prominent splitter increasing downforce at the front axle. At its heart is the familiar twin-turbo V8 engine adapted from the road-going 570S for race use and delivering its power to magnesium alloy wheels shod in Pirelli slick tires.

How does that thing run in the same class as the Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport?

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

If it does run in the same class, probably with significant air intake restrictions and/or ballast.

Wonder if Porsche will sue McLaren over GT4 like they did with Aston's GT3 Vantage V12? :D

Probably not, as this is a racecar for the GT4 category. There are no issues with GT3 racecars as well. Furthermore this time the category existed before the Porsche car.

Whilst I like the more agressive looks compared to the street version, this particular car does not make a lot of sense IMO. It'll get a very restrictive BOP and I don't think, owners of road and racecar will be pleased by the missing power of the latter oneSmiley

The 570S needs that. To keep up with the Cayman.

They'll just restrict it and/or add weight like they do to all race cars. All race cars have road variants that aren't fairly matched.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

I would think it would run in classes against Cup car types of Porsches while the big brother will run against the Ford GT, lamborghini, 488 and new Turbo 911 (in 2017).

The 570 GT4 seems to be an overkill if you see other GT4 cars, but on the other hand there seem to be a growing interest for the GT4 class. During the Dubai 24H, the radio Le Mans guys were talking a lot about GT4 and the fact that cost for running a GT3 car had been crawling up very rapidly. Their view was that GT4 would grow i the coming years.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

Why is GT4 that much cheaper?

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

I just received an invitation from McLaren Germany for test-driving the 570S in Boxberg but I cannot go unfortunately because I return from the US on that day. Would have loved to be there to drive the car on a closed circuit.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

Not that these are terribly accurate, but still worth the 20 seconds it takes to watch.

675 LT vs LF speedos. I'm sure the LF pulls way ahead in the higher speed, but the 675 LT is crazy fast to quite high speeds. Really want to see some drag videos with it and the latest exotics like the 488, TTS, SV, etc.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0iOWDuJwdLI

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

The 675LT is the gem in the McLaren range. It was supposed to be the 'P1'. Well with a few more HP from the engine.

But they had to switch course, play catch up and add the hybrid system in order to match Porsche's 918.
