So, based on input from Kreso and stuff I had heard previously, in a nutshell the new line-up of the 991.2 GT generation could unfold as follows:
991.2 GT3 with both PDK and MT (leveraging 911R development), NA, close to 991.1 GT3 RS in power and performance, road legal equivalent of NA GT3 R
991.2 GT2 RS, (probaby limited) "special" edition earmarked for "top P clients", very expensive, 2017 turbo-charged road legal equivalent of 2017 turbo-charged 911 RSR

No GT3 RS?
Only GT4 RS for race homologation since GT3 RS is no longer required to fulfill this need with the shift to mid-engined race cars 
The higher spec 991.2 GT3 leaves space for a higher spec 991.2 GTS using the same N/A engine (the 991.1 R will show the way).

Right now it seems that way. The GT2 could be a GT2 "only" but I doubt it. There is too much tech, power and development work involved to make it a GT2 only. So many rumors going on right now, difficult to say.

The GT cars have always delivered the best value and resale. I hope they won't change this. Raising the price is a bad idea (especially with a softer economy), imo. I think it's smart to have a group of cars that are in high demand (but not impossible to buy with a little effort).

+1 - the most Logical for me would be to stop the GT3 Name and call it GT2 - use a Turbo engine that is setting the bar significantly higher than the last NA engine can - if they would bring "another" 4.0 with 495hp or so it would be very close to the RS (smaller front less aero) and since the competition has moved the game on on the torque side - how can you be competitive for another 3 years or so with such a product ? I strongly believe they should bring a 500HP beast with tremendous torque and all their Chassis Magic and we would have a true GT3 successor.

Saying its a good thing is a rather short term view - its good in that you own one now so it may well make your current car worth more, but come the time when you are ready to sell and want the latest RS you wont see it as a good thing that NA GT3RS are no more! 
I own a V12Vantage which is the last of a breed - 6ltr V12, NA, Manual. Good for its value which is now starting to rise, but I see it as a bad thing because I can't replace it like for like with a new car.
