Good video review from Autocar in the UK. Lots of understeer there!

    http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-video/video-lamborghini-huracan-review

On test drives from Journalist we have seen on mags or videos everybody seems to like the Huracan, but the way they express themselves, is if they were talking about a Golf GTI or Megane Sport, and not about a new supercar from Lamborguini. If you compare the review on this same mags of 458 or 991GT3 they speak with passion and are overwhelmed by driving pleasure those cars provide! As to Huaracan they are not very impresse, they simply like and say it´s a good product. Anyway, this worth was is worth, what really matters is real life ownership, still from what I´ve been seeing on videos and magazines, 458, 650S and 991GT3 seem to be much more passionate cars than Huracan!

If I had to choose one without driving any, my choise would be Huracan, the V10 sound and looks are simply on another league compared with the other 3, but afer a driving test, I believe I could change my mind. Would like to hear opinions from those who had the chance to drive the Huracan and compare it with competition.

Comparison with a Golf GTI is, in a strange way, very important and indicates that Lamborghini has achieved their goal of building an everyday supercar.  Porsche, historically, had little repeat customers, though there exists a very rapid owner base, for the 911 because once the aura of the car wore away, its lack of practicality was revealed.  Lamborghini faces that very same problem and by building a more everyday livable car, that Huracan is more likely to remain longer with the same owner.

Really?  As sports cars go, the 911 is very practical and customer loyalty to Porsche is legendary according to the press.  If this is a barometer, I'm on my 4th and that is pathetic by Rennteam standards

Loyalty is legendary but it started to change, at least this is my personal perception. I actually see the change in myself and it kind of scares me. I have always been a loyal Porsche customer but the competition has become so strong and Porsche isn't ahead anymore, they just swim with the same fish in the same aquarium. Not a good thing in my opinion.

Are we going to see Lambo pics before 2015 ? Smiley Smiley

Eh, I don't go to the track and I've never experience either understeer or oversteer. Need to be going too fast and driving in the wrong lane to experience those things in real life.

If it's great 99% of the time, then it's great overall. Still not sold on the looks. It's priced well, but I still think it will depreciate a lot. Will give it a year or two before I consider one. Need to see the R8 and other new cars to launch in the next 2 years.

Have you never driven a tight corner at speeds where you can feel lateral G forces?  Nothing to do with exceeding any speed limits or using two lanes, just how much you attack even lower speed corners in your own lane.

But I expect your 12C is in fact fairly neutral handling until very close to the limit, hence you are not aware of severe under or over steer in most driving.    From the Autocar video review in the link above, there is absolutely no question that Steve S. is really struggling to get the front end of the Huracan around many of the track corners - you would start to feel this as resistance to turn-in at even normal speeds.  And I would agree with him that for a car in the Huracan's class, it is really unacceptable and a real enjoyment-killer.  Lambo could easily re-tune the handling and I will be curious to see if they do.

Really.  The market in the States is always a bit different from that in the UK and EU.  As I had mentioned above, there are some owners that are very much repeat customers.  I was at one event talking with someone who was on his thirtieth 911!  He is an exception, not the rule.

Yesterday, for example, illustrates some of the differences in the US market.  At lunch, I observed a 991 GT3 circling the area myriad times, not looking for a parking place, but instead driving around slowly in a major restaurant and shopping area to be seen.

Later, after having dinner with friends, I left an establishment only to notice a 991 Turbo S with clear rear lenses parked outside.  As I was finishing my conversation, the owner stepped outside to retrieve her car.  This elderly woman sat near our table and managed to consume several, and I mean several, martinis during the course of dinner and now she was going to drive a very high performance car home.Smiley 12

These are but two examples of how the Porsche market in the US can differ from other areas.  Porsche has in the past spent much on marketing studies to define the different Porsche consumers because of the low repeat purchases in the U.S.

I am on my 5th 911 and I love it. The best combination of high performance and practicality that I found.

Once again, those on this forum are an exception and not the type of transitory Porsche owner I am writing about.

Ok, I have plenty of friends and work colleagues with 911s who are not on this forum and who do not look at other brands.

I love Huracan and this example looks amazing apart from some red details:

    Re: Huracan AMS test

It´s the best looking exotic on this class which is not surprising, even the Gallardo with 10 years old was still the best looking car among competition.

    Re: Huracan AMS test

    looks great!

    Re: Huracan AMS test

Very nice stealth look plus tasteful red accents. I am going for a more in your face green as it will be my first "Raging Bull" . As I have said before, from a mechanical perspective the car really is a big leap forward form the original Gallardo. Looks as ever are a subjective matter. One of the most distinctive features is the huge low end torque. Also very interesting is how different the Sport setting is on the road versus say Porsche/Ferrari/Mclaren - the suspension remains relatively soft but the engine noise especially on the downshift is wonderful. The other marques' settings just tend to get a little to stiff for the road.

    Re: Huracan AMS test

I like some aspects of it, but the back looks cheap as hell. I was looking at one close up the other day and the entire back just looked like cheap matte plastic. I'm sure they'll offer a $10-20K CF package or something crazy like that eventually, but in general I think the car is too similar to the Gallardo to warranty paying $260K+.

Will be interesting to see the new R8 performance and price point, as well as any additional bells and whistles. If there is a $80-100K premium on 40hp, I definitely wouldn't bite for a Huracan.
