    Has anyone replaced the CDR-24 unit in their 987

    I made a big mistake when I specced up my 987S last year. I thought a portable satnav unit would be better than the PCM unit. Having used the Tomtom unit in the car I realise how much of a pain it is to keep taking it out of the car every time I park. I can have PCM retro fitted to my car by my local Porsche dealer - for around Pounds3000+!
    So - as unlikey as I know it sounds - has anyone else changed the head unit in a 987 for an aftermarket SatNav system?

    Hmmm. Thinking about buying a Tomtom for my daily drive - maybe I'll think again. The problem with trying to integrate a non Porsche system is interfering with the MOST system in the car - Myself, I wouldn't be brave enough to try. Wow! Pounds3k to retrofit an Pounds1850 factory fitted extra - at least Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask!

    Perhaps you would be better getting a PDA based sat nav - a Palm PDA fits very neatly into the cupholder.

    I have no problems with my pda based TomTom5 - in fact its great for me as its easy to take from car to car
