hmmm, so, your Porsche dealer has now some spare (slightly used) pccb rotors in stock ? Smiley Smiley

They went back to Porsche... Smiley Bad luck for Porsche I guess but they authorized the exchange based on the symptoms transmitted (in audio & video) by the repair shop. Smiley

I've had my Turbo S for five weeks and it's going back to the dealer -  the same clicking noise under braking. It's unacceptable that six months after the problem was aired they're letting these car leave the factory with the same problem.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

My clicking went away before I took it to the dealer to be reviewed. But I am still waiting for a new windscreen to arrive from Germany.....

Saw and heard a new TTS with TechArt wing and Tubi exhaust at my dealer just now. Sounded much better. Anyone got a Tubi too and what's your experiences?

Having my windscreen replaced under warranty today thankfully!

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

Sport exhausts usually sound better at idle or when you accelerate while the car is sitting still but when driving, most sport exhaust systems don't really work for the 991 Turbo S, don't have a clue why (heard two prototypes and both were disappointing, only a bit louder but the sound wasn't really nice). So before you spend a lot of money on a sport exhaust, make sure you listen to it during driving. Also keep in mind that the engine warranty could be gone, Porsche is pretty anal about stuff like that.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

The dealer told me Tubi and Porsche worked together - only the OEM exhaust warranty is impacted here in the US. Given the exhaust is replaced anyways that should not be an issue. 25bhp and 25lb Torque at the wheel improvements with better drivability. ~$8k fitted. In my cab I think the Tubi would make a big difference all round sound wise from what I heard.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

I put a RUF exhaust (recommended by Porsche contacts) on my 996TT, and ultimately regretted it.  Slightly louder sound, but no noticeable difference in performance despite the 30HP or so claim.  Your choice of course, but i would spend the 8K elsewhere.  Quiet and fast is cool...

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

Same experience here - my friend put this onto his 997TT - no notable change of anything - neither sound nor power. Waste of money IMO

Tubi and Porsche don't work together. Porsche has some ties to Akrapovici for low volume models exhaust systems but the version intended for the 991 Turbo S apparently wasn't ready for certification, despite it's lower weight. I guess Akrapovici will offer the exhaust system at some point but don't expect wonders from it.

@Wonderbar & @Rossi: No sound is cool? In what universe? Maybe you should get the new S class in AMG flavor. Oh wait, even this car sounds good. Smiley

I'm not happy with the 991 Turbo S exhaust sound, why should I lie. It is much better than the 997 Turbo S sound but still not enough. Yes, the quieter sound actually makes it possible to enjoy this car without raising eyebrows or getting middle fingers shown by pedestrians, this is true but the sound sucks. Period. I would want a raunchier sound in the lower rev range below 3000 rpm but... Smiley

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

That sounds really good. Why doesn't Porsche offer a Sports Exhaust like this? The lack of sound is for some people (me) a reason to stick with the Carrera. And any aftermarket exhaust will violate the warranty.

RC, didn't mean to imply that no sound is cool, but for me a quiet. low rumble is much more pleasing and less offensive than a brash, raucous, look at me exhaust sound.  For 99% of my driving in nice neighborhoods and metropolitan areas, I want less not  more noise.

And I am the guy who for years drove a 904GTS on the street, in race tune with a single stinger exhaust, then several other 911s with straight pipes.  Guess it could be an age thing, or too many children in my life...Smiley

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

These don't seem to be doing that well in the US. I think the price is just way too high. I see 2014 TTS cars on eBay with less than 1K miles for $20K off MSRP. Some of these are probably only like a few months old too.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

I recently shopped for a Cayenne and there were more Turbo and Turbo S on the lot than the base Cayenne.

I cannot say much about the US and how the 991 Turbo S sells there but while I love my car, I am disappointed with the exhaust sound and power/performance in the upper speed range (over 160 kph or 100 mph). I also think that the LED lights for the Turbo/S should have received a more aggressive and different design, same goes to the tail lights. A digital dashboard would have also made a difference, the car is way too close to the 997 Turbo/S, even if it is a huge improvement, incl. the exhaust sound.

I "warned" Porsche that this may not be the "Benchmark" they are advertising this car as but I guess they had a budget and budgets don't go well with benchmarks. I'm afraid Porsche kind of underdelivered here and it may be reflected in sales numbers. It may...because I have no sales figures. All I know is that there seems to be more demand for the Turbo/S in Germany for example than the GT3. There is no alternative to the excellent quality of the Turbo/S as a daily driver, like it or not. I can see however why customers in regions like California, Florida and some "typical" rich owners spots are looking for alternatives. The 991 Turbo/S may not be special or different (vs 997 predecessors) enough for these people and I get it.

Sydney, I get that but I also think that you got...old(er). angry I notice a similar development in myself but on the other hand, a nice exhaust sound is an important part of the driving experience. I am in Ibiza right now, driving a BMW 640d xDrive Cabriolet. Nice cruiser, especially for a sunny island but the Diesel sound sucks bigtime. I would never ever buy a Diesel cabriolet, this is for sure. What a disappointment.

The convertible doesn't feel much different, maybe a tiny bit heavier but you can barely feel it. The convertible actually sounds nicer (when driving open) but I guess this applies to all convertibles. Smiley

The 991 Carrera S with PSE sounds very nice.  A variation with a "turbo touch" would have been OK.. Porsche tried, according to rumors but it didn't work out for them, don't know why (rumors indicate certification issues). Also, they wanted to add a nice "pop-off" sound, which apparently was not cleared for production by one of the CEO's. Bummer.

A sportscar needs a nice sound and without the proper sound, it gets boring in my opinion.

This is not funny. Smiley  Smiley The 6 series Cab is actually a very nice cabriolet cruiser for four people, especially in a speed limited region (most roads here are limited to speeds between 40 and 80 kph, which sucks but since people here apparently cannot drive, the speed limits are understandable). I just miss a nice V8 growl, it would be perfect for this car.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

The TTS Cab does have a very good chainsaw sound on half throttle with the roof down. Anymore and the sound of the wind and motion of going v fast take over. Far earlier than in a Ferrari cab. My favorite cab was my old 355 GTS from 1999 which was just a crazy sound all the way unto 140mph+. So you loose the sound when you press on in the TTS cab.
