    Re: The "Hellcat" has arrived

I was discussing with my dealer how to put the Hellcat engine into my Jeep SRT. We both came to the conclusion that it is way too complicated and expensive.

Right now, he is preparing a customer Jeep SRT with a stroked 7.3 l HEMI engine with a supercharger. Estimated power is around 650-680 hp, "reliable" 650-680 hp. The supercharger will add "only" 50 hp to the package. As soon as the car is finished, I will be able to drive with him in it (it is a customer car, so I cannot drive it myself).  Cost is around 35k EUR. Ouch. My dealer is a well respected Jeep/Dodge tuner over here.

I guess I am going to wait for a Jeep SRT Hellcat...if Chrysler is clever enough to offer one.

    More Hellcat info...

Price: $59K y hecho en Mexico. Every engine spends 42 minutes on a dyno before installation. Consumes 30,000 liters of air per minute. A lot of other interesting engine details explained by the Hellcat's Brit chief motor guy on a TFL video at

Thanks. I am seriously considering this car if the performance is at par with the engine output.

I will very likely buy it because it will probably be one of the last pony (muscle) cars and I always wanted to have one but I kind of like the Ford Mustang GT 500 a little bit more because it looks smaller than the Dodge Challenger. We'll see... Smiley

Last week, I talked to a German importer of the Challenger SRT Hellcat and he told me that he gets the first two cars in September. With some luck, I am going to be able to test-drive one, they plan to register one for customer test drives. Estimated price tag in Germany: 70k EUR. This would be a real bargain for a 707 hp, 881 Nm torque car.

    Re: The "Hellcat" has arrived

Its got better brakes than the Mustang Shelby, more room, bigger trunk, some previous generation Mercedes E and S class chassis parts and its within a few tenths of a second as fast to 125mph as your Turbo S. Its also very, very  close to the same top speed and will really drive your neighbors nuts.  The next go fast SVT Mustang won't be out until maybe Fall of 2015 maybe so why wait. For now get a Hellcat, you wont lose any money on it and you will likely enjoy it more than a Mustang. kiss

    Re: The "Hellcat" has arrived

RC - an American muscle car?  Really?  It won't require N-rated tires you know.  Might be dangerous to drive a car like that - lol.  This is the type of car I would have enjoyed in high school not as a grown up at 50 (you are almost there).  Even my 32 year old wife would argue it was not age appropriae for me.  Oh well.  Enjoy.  I find it amusing that you like the Jeep too.

    Cheers

    Re: The "Hellcat" has arrived

The Hellcat is not just a muscle car, it is a modern 199mph vehicle. If you are already too old for a Hellcat at 50, maybe a Lexus convertible will be in your future very soon.   If the wifey approves of course.Smiley

    Re: The "Hellcat" has arrived

If you go 199mh in that and survive (or feel safe) let me know.  lol.  I like my 911s just fine and yes - it is just an american muscle car which will fall apart in a few years.  If you think the 911 Turbo is just a fancy 911 at twice the price imagine the Hellcat as just a Challenger at four times the price.

Nope - not going to buy a Lexus and I don't have to ask permission, ever.

    Re: The "Hellcat" has arrived

The car is a lot of muscle for the bucks. Personally I'm not so much a fan of the challenger - I like the Jeep and I like the Viper of the SRT selection. But - the Hellcat will be the new benchmark - 707HP is a strong argument. Let see what Chrysler and Ford will launch in comparison. Nevertheless - its a retro-muscle car with driving dynamics of 2014. Also - with some decent tuning and the right color it has potential of being a stunning car!

    Re: The "Hellcat" has arrived

Just an FYI: The 10.8 claimed 1/4 mile was on drag radials...

707 hp for a high school boy? Are you kidding me? Even at age 30, I would have killed myself in a 707 hp car.

You should try the Jeep GC SRT, a surprisingly interesting product for little (compared to the competition) money. It also seems to attract a lot of (positive) attention over here in Bavaria, which in my book is a good thing.

That SRT is the car which gives me the most positive vibe from all the cars I ever owned. So far only positive comments and there are a lot of comments. There is not even a single day where no one is talking to me about that car - always someone comes over. To drive its fun, too!

Even beside the good price tag - its for me just the most beautiful SUV on the road right now.

The Hell-Cat - I mean, I dont mind to drive it with 44 - not sure how you feel with almost 50 angry But I also dont mind driving a Mini-Cooper - which is for sure the typical girl-y student car. Some people just are aging different as others I guess broken heartwink

In that case we should all together fly to the US, have some fun, buy them and put them in an container towards Rotterdam! Smiley

    Re: The "Hellcat" has arrived

You are all welcome to buy one here in Kansas,  I know a dealer and can get you the best price in the US.  I will escort you to the coast by Turbo.  Epic roadtrip adventure.  We can drive by the lake and you can check out the tata's & speedboats at the Party Cove.

Sounds absolutely great (thanks!!!) but I wish I had the time... Smiley

Also, I wouldn't buy the Challenger SRT in the US because I would want a warranty and a dealer I can go to if I have issues. For me, this is worth the extra money but I get the idea of enjoying a trip to the US, buying the SRT Hellcat there, driving around and bringing it back to Europe.

    Re: The "Hellcat" has arrived

Maybe ask your German dealer to create a US delivery program?

A friend of mine knows the SRT people pretty well. They even custom built him a new Viper with equipment not seen on any options list. I cant promise anything, but you never know.

My German dealer would be a grey import dealer (the biggest dealer, I think, in Germany). I doubt he could do that and if he can, he would probably charge a ton of money for that.

My main problem is time. Time is money, well, actually it is something very precious for me. I can be on Rennteam from my office, from my home, from a plane or out of a vacation but I cannot just leave for a couple of days to get a car in the US. This is impossible. Smiley All my free time, I spend with my family (wife or both kids or my son), there is no spare time left for anything else, with very little exceptions when I travel to Stuttgart for example. Unfortunately this happens very seldom.

Maybe we should connect it with a family vacation RC. Having a 14 day family vacation and out of that we could do a 4 day road trip?

I start liking this idea - putting a RT US road trip up - no matter with Hellcats or without - that might be cool! I'm in and I'm sure I could connect it as described to a family vacation.

Interesting idea but this would require a second car (SUV). You should see the luggage my wife has with her. We usually have four to five luggage pieces and three of them are my wife's. Smiley Smiley
