My Mercedes sales guy just visited me in my office (he is a customer) and he told me that the base version of the GT gets 46x hp (I have to admit that I do not remember the last number ) and the price tag should be slightly over 100k EUR (incl. 19% VAT). The S Version will have 510 hp and a Black Series version will be available too at some point, maybe latest next year. He also told me that Mercedes really wants to push the GT in sales and that sales persons who get customers from other brands will have some sort of bonus which they can use to reduce the price tag for the customer.
Long story short: He really believes that the new GT will sell very well, Mercedes has lots of expectations and they also plan lots of incentives to put as many GT on the road as possible. Main "target" customers seem to be former SLS and current Porsche and BMW customers.
Oh...no Roadster version planned for now, which is a little bit disappointing.

They are certainly talking it up. Surely it's not just marketing here because they are talking about measurable stuff like track times.

That video just exudes sincerity. Porsche's marketing people should be made to watch it over and over again just to learn how to do a pre launch tease video that is not a arrogant and pompous train wreck.. Their last effort - that "Special Committee" Cayman GTS video was absolutely ridiculous.
Official intro is on 9th September.

My dealer is saying we will see the official pictures mid of August.... can you confirm that?

Don't know why but those videos remind me to an Apple campaign. I always say - if you are that good, you don't have to talk about - Action speaks louder!

AMG is absolutely confident in their new product.
All numbers achieved by test mules are indeed amazing. I am sure that AMG GT will be bessportscar in its class in few categories like drive dynamics, steering feel and precision, driver confidence boost for spirited driving and traction(for rwd sportscar).
Which class is this? Which cars do you see as the main competitors?

I am waiting for AMG to start bragging about their transmissions! Current AMG transmissions seem slower than the rest and sometimes evil minded - Like shifting when they want to shift and being unteutonically laggardly. If it cant bang off shifts in a crisp super quick manner with zero felt delay between pressing the paddles and actually changing gears it will be very disappointing.
