    997 Cab owners! Windstop question

When I head over to Europe in a couple of months I will be leaving my hardtop at Zuffenhausen for a few weeks and debating whether to leave the windstop as well (as I will need the trunk space for luggage, etc. I plan to be driving all over Europe for 3 weeks and will be driving top up and top down checking it out. Will I be nuts to leave it behind in Suttgart?

    Thanks for your inputs!

    Dan

Re: 997 Cab owners! Windstop question

I don't like the look of the windstop but it does help if you drive over 70 mph. I never use mine and avoid highways if I want the top down. (Mainly because the preferred seat position is farther back than the windstop will allow) You can fold the thing down to look better when going slower speeds and it doesn't interfere w/ top.

Re: 997 Cab owners! Windstop question

I use mine during the cooler months and on cool nights. It works quite well to keep the heat in the car on those cooler days and nights. I drive with the top down in temperatures as low as 40 degrees and it's very comfortable in the car with the windscreen up and the heat on. I'd take it.

Re: 997 Cab owners! Windstop question

    Leave it!!!!!!

Re: 997 Cab owners! Windstop question

Why can't you just fit it, and then fold it down when you put the hood up? That way the trunk is freed up for luggage. Unless you *need* the back seats for something that is...

Re: 997 Cab owners! Windstop question

I agree with Alex, if you're not using the back seats, take it with you installed in-place.

Re: 997 Cab owners! Windstop question

Mine has never been out of the bag...
Never thought I really needed to use it.

Re: 997 Cab owners! Windstop question

Thanks everyone. I suppose I can leave it folded up in the backseat area reserving the trunk for luggage. Cruising above 70? In Europe? lol

You don't need to fold the whole thing up!

You can leave the wind-break fitted and just fold down the vertical section when you put the top up. You then still have storage space underneath the wind-break on the seat-shelf.

Had to do it myself a few times today actually, as the weather was very Jekyll and Hyde here in the UK whilst I was out for a spin. Rain, sunshine, rain, sunshine, rain... You'll get used it it

As the Dr.Pepper adverts say: Try it, you might like it!

I only tried mine for the first time a couple of weeks ago, I really think it's great

Sheesh, I thought I was pedantic!

Alex, does that mean that you get Dr Pepper (with or without the ".") in the UK?

We seem to be deprived here in Germany, so I may have to make a trip across the ditch to stock up on Rain-X and Dr Pepper's medicine.

Re: 997 Cab owners! Windstop question

It (windscreen) does make a big diff on a cool day or night or even if you wear a hat and don't want it blowing off.

Yes we do get it here, but as you may have noticed by my typo, it's not that common

    We digress...

Re: 997 Cab owners! Windstop question

No question about it. Driving trough Europe you need the windstop badly. When mounted, you can drive almost always open , even at speeds of 160 (km/u) and more !The car is fantastic to drive without top, but without windstop you need temperatures from plus 22 celsius.

Re: 997 Cab owners! Windstop question

    Thanks, beltar!
