Corvette Z06 - Impressive Hockenheim Performance

It may have been discussed before and I may have missed this discussion but I just read about the SPORT AUTO Corvette Z06 review on the Hockenheim Kleiner Ring track in Germany and the result is quite impressive.
Hockenheim Kleiner Ring is not a high speed track, it is a track where good chassis setups are vital for a car.

1:11,5. Right 1 minute and 11,5 seconds. Impressive.

    Comparison:
    Porsche Carrera GT 1:08,6
    Porsche 996 GT2 MkII 1:11,6

Re: Corvette Z06 - Impressive Hockenheim Performance

Even more impressive if the lap was made with standard run-flat tires that come on all Z06's. Trade those for Cups or even PS2's and it would be much faster...

Re: Corvette Z06 - Impressive Hockenheim Performance

RC, it has been posted before on the sports car board (during your vacation ): http://www.rennteam.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=205219&an=0&page=1#205219

P.S: I am ashamed to have to ask this but here we go: how can I burn DVDs from my laptop ?

Here are some others (Z06 is 3rd best time tested on www.track-challenge.com):

    1:09.1 911GT# Cup
1:11.8 (Tie: Gallardo, GT3RS with track tires, Zonda S)
    1:12.6 996GT2 (I guess MkI)
1:13 Ferrari F360 Challenge Stradale with track tires

Thanks, Ziggy. I overlooked it while I was away.

Regarding your laptop thing: what laptop do you have, what OS are you running and what DVD writer is inside your laptop? You need also a program to burn DVDs. It is possible in most cases to use the built-in burn function (depending on the OS) but I get very good results with Nero 7.

I have an HP with Windows XP and I am positive It can burn DVDs , but either I can use Windows Media Player or I need a specific programm ?

Re: Corvette Z06 - Impressive Hockenheim Performance

    Thanks RC . Impressive indeed.

I heard that all '08 Z06 and C6 will get 5 more horses and reworked suspension set up as well as shorter gear throws plus some very minor facelift ( probably looks more like F430 this time )

    Nonetheless, very impressive car.

Re: Corvette Z06 - Impressive Hockenheim Performance

    Ziggy,
Use Nero Burning 6 or 7. It is very easy to use this program, just click on "swith to nero express", then "dvd video files" and finally browse to the folder on your PC. Use slwer speed for best results
With the XP soft your dvd may have errors

maybe impressive time .. but not impressive car that's my opinion

Re: Corvette Z06 - Impressive Hockenheim Performance

IMO ZO6 is the ultimate Bang for the buck.
I had the opportunity to drive one for 3-4 days.
As a daily driver it may a little rough on the edges, but for 70-75K there is nothing out there that offers the level of performance of this car.

And since it only costs $65k well equipped, it's an even better deal

Re: Corvette Z06 - Impressive Hockenheim Performance

which tyres were used???Special for Track or normal?????

Re: Corvette Z06 - Impressive Hockenheim Performance

The normal goodyear runflats that are standard equipment.

Re: Corvette Z06 - Impressive Hockenheim Performance

They didn't wrote anything about that.

Re: Corvette Z06 - Impressive Hockenheim Performance

    for me special track-tyres

Re: Corvette Z06 - Impressive Hockenheim Performance

No,it were the Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar. But I don't it were the EMT.

Re: Corvette Z06 - Impressive Hockenheim Performance

Walter, the only OEM tires for it are Goodyear EMTs.

There is no tire option unless you go out and buy a set of Michelin Pilots for it and the only Michelins available
are in a slightly bigger size.

Since Sport Auto did not mention that it had none OEM tires, I think its safe to say that it had the tires it was sold with. Look at the pictures.

Re: Corvette Z06 - Impressive Hockenheim Performance

You can't see what kind of tires it had from the pictures. They simply wrote it were Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar.

Also from this link( http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Goodyear&tireModel=Eagle+F1+Supercar ) it seems that there are 2 variants.

Yes, there are two variants and the Z06 only comes with the EMT (runflat) version...

Check this link further in Tirerack's website:
    http://www.tirerack.com/tires/OEFtRrTire...&pagemark=1

Re: Corvette Z06 - Impressive Hockenheim Performance

About the non EMT variant shown for the C5. The C5 ZO6 rear
tire size is the same size as the C6 Z06 uses on the front.

There is no Goodyear non EMT variant available that will fit the Rear wheels size of a C6 Z06.

C5 Z06 and C6 Z06 are two different animals when it comes to rear tire and wheel sizes.

If you want Michelins these are the sizes and ex US prices.
They are slightly bigger than the OEM size tires.

    Front: 285-35-18 ea $327.00

    Rear: 345-30-19 ea $416.00

Re: Corvette Z06 - Impressive Hockenheim Performance

Only read Z06 and thought they were talking of the C6...my bad.
