Porker:You like a very proud dad.
He has every reason to be proud. I wish I had a son in his daughter's age...if you get my point.

It is Monday morning here in Sydney with very sunny weather conditions. Our crash pad is set up in The Four Seasons where we just had a good breakfast. Right now we are taking the ferry to Watson Bay. We drove there last year but couldn't get parking... it was so busy :( So this time—the ferry ;-)
More about Sydney and some photos later...

Sydney at Sunrise
These are from yesterday, taken on our morning walk through the royal botanic garden before breakfast at the Four Seasons. Mrs. Pilot and my daughter love the smell of the many plants and flowers...
By the way, Watsons Bay was very nice, with a great view of the open ocean and a stunning view of Sydney Harbour. The ferry took only about 25 minutes from Circular Quay.
A question for DJM48, have you been to the Dunbar House there? What was your experience?

Hi
Have not been there.
My favourites for food with a view in Sydney are:
Aqua (under northern pylon of Harbour Bridge)
Ripples (same location but lower - a little less $$)
Cafe Sydney (above Circular Quay)
Icebergs at Bondi (superb food and beach/ocean view)
Quay (very $$$ - good food but risk is that ocean liner will be moored at the Overseas Passenger Terminal and you be looking at a porthole of one of the lower deck cabins!)
Aqua is my favourite - this was dinner 2 weeks ago. Opera House temporarily obscured by small boat passing by).
How long are you in town for?
David
We were there yesterday (not for eating though); very beautiful view! We may try Aqua or Ripples, thank you :). Our flight leaves March 1. We really enjoy it here and we're having a great time! You live in a beautiful city.

Sorry about my silence ;-) The Sydney part of our vacation was a little bit busy so far. I had some appointments in the city and I was able to get a few things done.
It is Sunday afternoon and the sun is out now. It was rainy yesterday and a bit cloudy this morning but it was still very nice.
The above photo from two days ago was taken from Mosman Bay. My wife loved it there! This is our fourth trip to Sydney and it is exceeding all my expectations again. I even saw a beautiful grey 991 GT3 the other day and some other cool black cars!
We took the ferry to Rose Bay and saw the Sydney Sea Planes that are based here before walking over to Watson's Bay :) It was a beautiful walk with many nice houses along the way.
Just had a coffee and dessert at the Dunbar House; the service is great and the Crêpes Suzette were delicious!

RC - yes - iPhone 6S. Being an iPhone it probably also recorded the nature of my entree was and the vintage of the pinot gris I washed it down with. But only Apple can access the information because they respect my privacy blah blah blah!
Digital SLR, compact camera, HD digital video camera... they do not get much of an outing anymore..
Have thought about getting a Sony Alpha but really not sure how often I would use it.
Pilot, I have just got back to Sydney after a conference in Canberra. I have tomorrow afternoon off but I presume you are leaving on QF11 tomorrow AM?
DJM48:Perhaps you need a new office? No doubt you have noticed that the Harbour is the east-west helicopter corridor for Sydney. Not a bad work environment! 😊
Any need for a pharmacist with basic IT knowledge and a family doctor in Sydney?

We had heavy rain this Wednesday morning on our way to the airport, but we made it safely (thanks to our cab driver). Qantas check-in, security, and tax refund is done too.
DJM48 is up to something, maybe it is time to change the office view ;-) I could also see my wife in a GT3 here.
RC, you and your wife would probably like it very much here. I can only speak for Sydney and the surroundings. People in general are very relaxed and friendly. They also seem to care less about rules and restriction and still try to have fun and enjoy life :) I personally like the climate here. Up to now I have experienced all seasons except for winter, which I have been told, is not that bad either in Sydney.
Okay, 30 minutes from boarding...and then about 14 hours straight and level flying over just water ;-)

Have a safe trip back home and yes, we love warm and sunny weather. Only concern are those little critters everywhere (my kids would literally hate them) and of course the...sharks. Kids and wife love to swim in the ocean but they are afraid of sharks. Not that Florida doesn't have them as well.

Thanks RC. Finally seated and buckled up :) Honestly the fear of all the things (spiders, snakes, sharks, jellyfish) is worse than the reality. People here aren't bothered by them at all and, in the city at least, things aren't that common. We had the same fears the first time, but thankfully everything has been good so far :)

You mean this is normal:
Departure from Sydney...
...was emotionally painful, so I'm already dreaming of a return ;-)
We had a warm downpour when we left in the morning and since we took a taxi to the airport this time I didn't have to worry about the poor visibility, haha. The climate in Sydney, whether it is raining or hot and sunny, is great; I would describe it as pretty moderate, but of course that's subjective.
Our return flight was mostly smooth, though honesty I think I've lost perspective a little bit after flying through some quite turbulent spots myself. The cabin temperature was nice this time, but RC may classify it as too warm for a night flight ;-)
The last two photos are from our arrival into Los Angeles airspace at sunrise. Thanks to my daughter for the first three photos in this set (the last one I took with my iPhone 7)!
DJM48, yes we need to catch up next time.
RC, thanks again.

Wonderful pictures again GG, glad to read you all made it back safely! I love to hear your descriptions of your holidays, can imagine how you "recharged your battery"... I've never been to Australia, but I have a lot of very good colleagues from the Sydney area, and the lifestyle, city, etc must be truly amazing.
Now please go home and give us some of those wonderful RS/Helicopter pictures again!
