    I was just making a point, don't worry...I didn't misunderstand you. Smiley

The Viper wasn't the right car to compare the Turbo S with, actually I am surprised how bad the new Viper is vs. all new cars in the same performance league. Not really a masterpiece I'm afraid. Things may change with the new Hellcat engine, hopefully.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

I think the comparison is kinda rediculous. You can't compare a Viper to a 911 TTS. That's the most unsophisticated car against probably the most sophisticated one. That 's like comparing a Lada Niva against the latest Range Rover. You just know that the RR will win, just like the Porsche in this comparison.

There aren't that much cars to compare the  991 TTS to. Like RC said, the Huracàn, but that's about it. 458 Speciale is too hardcore, eventhough it is competitor in terms of performance. The upcoming Audi R8 will be a good comparison I think...

Finally saw the Turbo in the metal  yesterday, twice. Saw an Rhodium and a white one less than half an hour apart. The rhorium car was spectacular ! white also looked very good.  IMO those DRL totally throw off the front of the car, the CS ones with the straight line look much better and give the car a better "face" at night.

The DRL are actually within the front light assembly unit, four little dots on the outside ring. They look quite cool. You are referring to the "position" lights (not sure how to name them in English) which come on at night. They actually look cool but a little bit too big for the flat 911 front. Not a fan either.

More sporty yes. But the silver rimmed car I think looks better.  We're talking lambos and 911s here... It's not like sportiness is in short supply.

In my opinion, it doesn't. Silver = elegance. Black = sporty. This can be actually "transferred" to many other things, like watches, bathroom appliances and many other things.

Bit late on this one, but I'm gonna have to say that the reality of it all works against you here. Most exotic cars in the world use silver or grey wheels. In fact, most race cars use silver or grey wheels as well. I don't really have the figures to back it up, but I'm saying this based on how seldom I see black wheels compared to silver.

Black wheels, IMO, are a recent fad that have come with the technology of being able to have durable, nice looking painted wheels.

Also just my opinion that black wheels often look terrible and only look good on a few cars with certain exterior colors, whereas silver/grey can look good on just about any car in any color.

That's what I meant. The light unit under the main headlight assembly that fits flush to the front intakes. They just look like a leftover part from the first gen Panamera Turbo front. Again the normal CS front with the single light looks much much better, giving the front more of a wider horizontal feel at night.

I think those are called parking/corner lights, regulations dictate cars have them.

Just out of curiosity, why do some many 911s have the ugly headlight washer things. I'm not terribly old, but in the past 13 years of driving I've never once needed to wash my headlights.

This is a regulation when Xenon lights are fitted. A dirty or even very dusty headlight transparent cover diverts light in the case of xenons and this diversion might blind traffic on the opposite direction.

i use the washers fro time to time so that the motor doesn't rget stuck.

    Exactly, it's a regulation. Smiley

I only notice the washers, when they spring into action while I clean the windshield when the lights are on. Smiley

2m of snow this winter and 100 days of below freezing temperature. Worst on record. No big deal. I've never needed to clean headlights other than brushing off some snow in the morning.

Unless driving in a blizzard, in which I would just stop driving in the first place, I've never had headlight issues on any car.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

You wouldn't notice "headlight issues", simply because you are sitting BEHIND them.

The washers are mandatory for Xenon lights and for a good reason. A little bit of dirt can actually already distort the light beam a lot. Not only the light quality will suffer but other drivers can be "blinded"/disturbed. You will never notice that since you are behind the steering wheel.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

At the beginning, Porsche allowed retrofitting of Xenon through a Tequipment kit even to cars without washers.

Now this is not possible for this reason of headlamp washing.

Do only Porsche use xenon lights? I can't think of any modern car with them. Maybe I'm just not noticing them. I guess they could just be disappearing with LED and lasers coming out now.

Also a very popular and simple aftermarket upgrade. I got them on my suv as soon as I bought itand its much better than standard halogens.

    IMG_7064.JPG

(no idea why the two fog lights look different in this picture but in reality they both have that colder tone like the one on the right. much better than the stock halogens, and when all 4 lights are on it's very bright.

i like the rims but cant see my self using them ... nice to look at it thing not to own it

too much  maybe in a nice way ?!?!

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

Fugly rims.  Poor taste knows money all too well.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

I have seen that wheel, in a a silver finish up close on a Aventador roadster. The angular design suits the Lambo better.

BUT, for the price, which is over 10k a set, the engineering and fit and finish is a bit of a downer. The spokes are really thick and I have to imagine that wheel weights a lot more than even the stock wheels, the mill work is a bit rough also. Don't think the wheels has any certification from anybody for structural strength.

Oh lastly, PUR wheels are made in China.
