    Ferdie:

The SLS and GT are single models, like Porsche's Turbo / Turbo S. Of course they will build less cars than Porsche with their variety of variants.

The GT is a great car and looks good in person but I have also seen very few on the road. Mostly in Stuttgart, to be honest.

and again - two out of three with that orange little sticker on the screen Smiley

Nobody cares for the GT in Germany no

So maybe he's the only one interested because of Forza and GT angry

    Re: AMG GT Thread Closed

In Stuttgart you will see a lot of GTs. On one evening you can see 4-5 or more

I just can talk about the SLS. When driving trough the city, kids are pulling the smartphone to take pictures. Wherever you park you receive positive comments. Overall the car is just an eye catcher. You should expect that the GT causes similar reactions?

    Re: AMG GT Thread Closed

@lars.....no it doesnt. the SLS has a special aura that the GT totally lacks.

i believe the SLS is already one of the alltime classics. just like a ford gt is

    Re: AMG GT Thread Closed

How does the GT have an aura? Until the doors open, it's pretty normal looking and I personally think the GT is a better design.

    Re: AMG GT Thread Closed

This is my favorite comparison picture. The biggest difference are the lines and proportions of the SLS. They are similar to the legendary SL300. Both cars share the unique fascinating look and appeal.

But - being honest - that GT is really looking bad on this picture. It looks better in reality!

Are prices of second hand GTs reflecting this lack of presence?

Lowest mark in the online-trading platform is a GT (non S) with 6000km for 127k list price offered now for 106. So this are 17% for a used car. Others are marked down around 12-13% (for used demo cars).

Today still people are looking for the car. Wait a year and you will see cars for below 100k.

    Re: AMG GT Thread Closed

noone1...the sls was a direct hommage to the 300sl.

so yes, the doors make a difference as does the engine. the 6.2l NA being the last of its kind. and it is one hell of an engine.

imo the sls has that supercar effect while the gt is well, just another gt.

Where? I barely can recall having seen one on the streets...

Everywhere. I see more of them than R8s.

Not in Germany. I saw one SLS last year in autumn. They seem to have become collector's items. Smiley Saw much more SLS on the road two or three years ago.

87 used GT are available in the Mercedes Benz used car system in Germany

Prices range from 112k to 176k EUR. Most cars seem to be dealer cars.

In general, prices for used cars seem to be 20-25% lower than the MSRP with an average mileage of around 10k km.

Not sure if this really indicates something but it actually indicates that the GT is not in very high demand, there are sufficient cars available if you really want one. Can't deduct a lot about the general success from these numbers.

    Re: AMG GT Thread Closed

Too bad it's not selling, IMO it's a fantastic looking car.

    Re: AMG GT Thread Closed

I saw two AMG GTs during my visit to Munich in October 2015. In two days.  Luck I suppose.

By all accounts it's a very good car except maybe the steering is a bit lacking in feeling. Is the problem that it is not the kind of car the typical Mercedes buyer wants?  Price could be an issue too.

    Re: AMG GT Thread Closed

I have a feeling that the GT is seen as a baby SLS. At least the people I know having an SLS would never consider the GT.

Did you drove AMG GT-S personally?

Steering is IMO more direct and feelsome then in 991.2CS. Car is definitely not what typical Mercedes buyer wants since it is louder and stiffer then again 991.1CS.

It is IMHO probably the best front engine sportscar currently on the market.

I found the same cars. As stated earlier - the prices are 12-17% lower. While 17 was only one single, car, the others have been around 12%. This is not enough - you can find new cars with almost the same reduction!

You are right - I might not consider a GT.

But - the GT drives completely different than the SLS. As per my previous driving report, the GT drives much more direct, you can feel the shorter chassis. Also, the American muscle appeal is gone. Drive-wise the GT is more agile than the SLS, but the SLS is fascinating and super cool. When driving the SLS you can see this extremely long hood. You have the feeling that the front is around the corner while you are still sitting on the straight line. The engine of the SLS is ultimate powerful. The car is very nervous on throttle reactions. If you hit the paddle the rear reacts instantly, this even on higher speeds. It is a drivers cars which makes it so enjoyable. The GT on the other hand, is more what we are used of modern 991s. It is perfect, very powerful (much more than a 991.S) corners like it should do, keeps the rear in control. However, the 991 might be bit more sports car, but the GT is by far less GT than the name supposed to be.

I agree that the SLS is a fantastic car, but I have only driven it on track and only the GT version. I did not have to exit the pit lane before I liked the car, and on the track I only pushed 90%, but I really liked it. The engine is a monster Smiley

The best part that day was that the entire AMG line up was available and I drove nearly all cars, with the exception of SUVs, and then you really feel the difference in personality on these cars.

Agreed, saw two in the last few weeks, one matte black and one in dark gray. They look fantastic in the metal.

these are now sitting unsold in UK dealers .. and residuals are tanking

    Re: AMG GT Thread Closed

Really? There are barely any for sale on eBay in the US and they have high asking prices of like $130K.

What's the price in the UK?

    Re: AMG GT Thread Closed

34 cars available on MBUK's used car locator.

and every single showroom with AMG presence I have been to has a new unregistered car

    Re: AMG GT Thread Closed

It looks OK but I have yet to see one on the road... They surely are not selling well.

    Re: AMG GT Thread Closed

There are quite a few driving around here in Zürich.

I saw a black one in Manhattan. Looked good to me. Whether or not they are selling, I have no idea. It's like like $130K cars are really that common in most places.

    Re: AMG GT Thread Closed

The motor in the GT is going to be shared with the new A-M Vantage.  A-M has confirmed manual gearbox with this motor.  I wonder if the sharing with be bi-directional and the manual might make it to AMG also?
