    get 06 spider???/wait for '07???

    supposed to go and order my f430 spider on friday which would be here in september/october... dealer says he will let me wait and order an '07 for january/february delivery if i prefer... i'm inclined to wait for the '07 but thought i would see what all the "experts" have to say... thoughts???

    If you plan to drive it during the winter months, get it ASAP, if you start the season in spring, wait until MY 2007.

    right. why wait if you don't have to?

    the only reason to wait IMO would be if there's a facelift or new model around the corner. but it isn't.

    whats the fiff between 07 and 06? if nothing then get it now.

    however, if they do stop selling f430's in the U.S, it would be really cool to have a last year production.

    Er, I think if they stop selling the F430 in the US, the last year of production will be MY 06.

    I agree. You live in Michigan and I doubt you will be driving the car with the top down for several months if you take delivery in Oct. 2006. The Spider should only be driven with the top down.

    However there may be downside. The 2007 may have a price increase and there may be DOT issues preventing the importation of the 430 (though I believe it is remote).

    BTW, order the heated seats. The option was not available when I ordered mine.

    i guess my logic for waiting is that, like you say, living in michigan i wouldn't really drive it until spring '07 anyway and that, additionally, perhaps the '07 would be worth marginally more than an '06... thanks for the feedback...

    One other thing to consider. Though there isn't any empirical evidence to support this but if you car is going to be delivered in Spt/Oct. it will be one of the last built before the summer factory shutdown. Workmanship may be an issue since they need to finish up orders and minds will wander.

    Also, a 07 designation will increase the value of your car should you decide to sell it.

    If your dealer will not allow this, it is most likely because they have another 'regular customer' in the wings, waiting to scoop-up your prize, FOR A PREMIUM!

    One word of caution is that with the new model year, you risk certain price increases. You also risk delivery issues (what if there is a labor, or shipping strike??). The only word of caution with the F430 is that Ferrari has not yet set production quotas. They have made some public statements, but no firm numbers. Simply stated, the further out in production years you go, there is higher risk of your value declining...
