The next generation Cayenne will differentiate itself from the Macan in many regards but the facelift will actually follow the Macan design philosophy but not to a full extent (let Porsche surprise you). This is all I know. I've only seen a design sketch of the new generation and quite frankly, not very helpful. It will be more "radical" (different) than the current Macan though from what I could tell, so I don't think the photoshop job in that link is accurate.

There was some talk about it but I don't think so. Not sure however if this is true, right now I haven't looked too much into the next gen Cayenne.

It would make sense to give the next gen Cayenne a 7 seat configuration but since downsizing in Europe isn't only limited to engines and exterior designs anymore, the 7 seat configuration may not be available either. Smiley

Only thing I know about the next gen Cayenne is that weight reduction played a role (actually the next gen Cayenne will be similar in weight to the Macan, which is a big achievement) and that the most powerful Diesel engine will have at least 400 hp. The next gen Cayenne Turbo S could also be the first series production SUV to hit 0-100 kph in under 4 seconds (3.9 seconds seem to be the goal).

Any information on how big the changes will be to TurboS in 15MY? Planning to order one.

Thanks god you put the Smiley behind this sentence. Smiley The Cayenne Adaptive Sport Seats are actually quite good and I doubt that the interior will be refreshed, this is planned for the next generation. The exterior however will get a restyling, as much as it is possible for a facelift.

I don't think so: I'm a die hard Cayenne fan (I really am) but I would never order bucket seats. 99% of the Cayenne owners I know, incl. Cayenne GTS and Turbo/S owners, are more comfort oriented people who could care less about sportiness, believe it or not. They just want something special and they want a SUV.

The 2015 model range will include a Cayenne S E-Hybrid instead of the S Hybrid, meaning there will be a plug-in power socket on the driver's side of the vehicle in addition to the hybrid powertrain. Look for significantly lower emissions and consumption, a more efficient system and a total power output of 416 hp on par with the Panamera S E-Hybrid.

Not sure about the steering wheel but as far as I heard, no Macan style taillights. I haven't seen it yet though (maybe after the Easter vacation).

The Macan steering wheel is a go based on the spy shots I've seen unless the wheel used is purely for prototype purposes, but I don't think that will be the case. Porsche should also introduce the steering wheel on the forthcoming facelifts for the Boxster, Cayman and 911. The Panamera will miss out on it since its facelift was shown before the Macan was revealed.

Actually, a lot of buyers probably have no idea that there's any difference between the Cayenne and Panamera hybrids, unless the dealer points it out to them. A lot of buyers probably have no idea when facelifts are due. A lot of buyers very likely have no idea what 958, 970, 981, or 991 mean, other than being numbers slightly under 1000. I doubt that the Cayenne hybrid being a generation behind the Panamera actually has much effect on sales.

But, pricing the Cayman is probably the biggest marketing blunder Porsche has made in recent history. Not only do they not sell many of them, but they completely boxed in what they can do with the Cayman relative to the Carrera (and the Boxster relative to the Cayman). If the Cayman were priced less than the Boxster, as God intended for Coupes vs. Cabriolets, the Cayman could have horsepower equal to the Carrera (and the Boxster equal to the Cayman) without cutting into Carrera sales because they'd be selling to different demographics. Instead, they've created a perception of near equivalence that pushes potential buyers away from the Cayman, while at the same time missed out on the demographic they ought to be selling it to.

Well, not all Cayman's, but, I think, for example, the GTS models could equal the horsepower of the Base Carrera and be priced so that instead of the Cayman being ~$2K more than the Boxster it was ~$2K less and the horsepower on the Cayman/Boxster would be equal to each other as well.

Porsche's "message" is that it's not all about horsepower, but that driving dynamics are just as or even more important than raw power. Yet, the horsepower games they play with the Cayman S, and now the GTS, to insure that it's "appropriately" less powerful than the Base Carrera undermine that message. If it's not all about horsepower, why does it matter that the Cayman/Boxster GTS has the same, or even a little more horsepower, than a Base Carrera? The Carrera is a different car with different dynamics, so you can't really compare them based just on horsepower; the Macan S has more horsepower than the Base Cayenne but does that make it better, or is it just different?

Obviously, they can't make this marketing change right now with the current models, but, in the next generation, if the Cayman/Boxster switch to 4-cylinder turbo engines, they could, assuming that the Base Carrera doesn't continue to have the same engine as the Cayman/Boxster S models. Although, they still have the problem of repricing the Cayman under the Boxster after all these years of claiming it isn't just a Boxster Coupe.
