Don't know, but I think it might be hybrid: it has the same active front aerodynamics as the 918, with the big inlets able to close the vanes...

I'm quite sure that all prototypes out there at the moment are showing the 991.2 with active aero on the front, the "grid" on the engine cover and the outlets for the intercooler-air on the sides of the rear bumper.

It seems that there are prototypes with exhaust tips in the middle and outside. Maybe normal and S version?

The GTS is going to be pretty boring I guess... probably the power kit and so on but for sure nothing "special" like a Turbo engine or so...

Yes, it is normal. The car is in a left turn, then the intake on the left side closes to increase resistance and help the car turn in sharper. Porsche Aero Vectoring (PAV). Coming to a showroom near you soon.

Interesting car, since its camoed like a facelift 911, I'm guessing that it will be introduced next year, when the facelift Carreras are released Smiley hopefully they won't wait until towards the very end of the 991 life span like they did with the 997GTS Smiley

Whoa - that would be brave.  The 4cyl engine in the Alfa 4C is pushing the boundaries of acceptable and that is under £50k.  I would not countenance a 4 cyl engine in a £70k+ car.

The exhausts are set up like they were in the 1960's. I expected exhaust like that on the 50th aniversary car.

I am very satisfied w/ my C4S, so I would opt to convert the lease to a purchase rather than accept a >$120K USD (or more) C4S with a 4 cylinder engine.  The 981 GTS (Boxster or Cayman) is already pushing $100K USD w/ not that many options so I cannot fathom how Porsche can sell a 4 cylinder 911 of any flavor in the current pricing structure.

The 4 cylinder , if it comes on a 911, will be the base engine . The Carrera S or GTS will probably run a 6 cylinder ..... turbo as well , but smaller displacement then the actual ones .

To me the 'best 911' of the moment is the GT3 . If tracked PDK is a must . If only as a DD or similar, then I would like a manual box.

If the Turbo four has more power and better mileage why would anyone want SLOWER?  It is just progress - move along and take your medicine.  (next we will have a flat six vs turbo four debate with one side wanting to outlaw the sixes because they are slower! - Geez).

If they do shove in a turbo four and it weezes like the F1 cars then I am going to get the new Z06 Vette with a manual.  Kiss My A$$ Weisach.

Ignoring the jibe for a moment, a recent Pistonheads review comparing the Alfa 4C and Lotus Exige Mk2 answers this perfectly:

    http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=29651

    The relevant extract:

"The Alfa’s other significant problem is with the power delivery of its turbocharged engine. Everything in the Lotus is linear and predictable; talk to Lotus handling guys like MattBecker and you'll hear them talk about balancing steering angle and roll rate to inspire confidence and on-limit transparency. The Toyota engine really has to be screaming to make any reasonable progress but that’s OK because if you’ve committed to that you’ll be primed and ready with the necessary inputs.

But as you battle the Alfa's writhing steering wheel, information about the road surface drowned out by white noise, you also have the issue of power delivery that overwhelms any sense of balance. In the Exige lock comes off as power goes in, every action having a harmoniously equal and opposite reaction. Power just builds, builds, builds all the way to an intense 8,000rpm crescendo but does so progressively. In the Alfa you try to carefully ease the throttle and it suddenly all arrives in one violently boosted dollop, which either pushes the nose wide or, in the wet, can snap the rear axle violently sideways. And at the point where the Alfa’s engine is all done the Exige is just about coming good."

Until the advent of the EPAS I would rate Porsche and Lotus as equally good at this balancing of inputs but now I think Porsche have lost an edge.  But a turbo 4 will be another step in the wrong direction.  Plus the fact, the flat 6 just sounds glorious.

I feel the opposite (love to shift on the track) and PDK only sounds interesting to me if I can rest my left leg in very bad traffic (if I still lived in Los Angeles or moved to London, for example)
