    Considering a 991 gt3 from a 997.2 turbo S !?

    Guys , I have a 2012 black 997.2 turbo S in showroom condition with 10'000 miles on it . I have read and watched reviews of the 991 gt3 and might do a trade in for my car . 

    Two questions here : 

    1- should I do the car booking and decision without having to test drive the 991 gt3 or do you advise me to try it 1st .?

    2- my car Is out of this world to drive and is still a more powerful car than the 991 gt3 , but depreciation values and the curiosity of buying a gt3 is opting me to buy it . Would you advise going from a turbo s to a gt3  ?? Bear in mind that I don't want to dish out a an extra 50 k on a 991 turbo s

    As always, preferences are personal and comparisons pointless. Is an apple better than an orange? 

    1. I would not buy a car without test driving it, even a GT3. You might love it, or you might hate it. The engine has none of the torque like in your Turbo, on the other hand it revs to 9000 rpm. 

    2. It all depends what you prefer, the everyday all-wheel drive torque rocket or the high rev'ing track weapon. If you drive a lot on track, then the GT3 is great option. If you never drive on track, then I would for sure keep the Turbo.

    Get another turbo o keep your for now - you have been spoiled by boost to an extent you can never enjoy the GT3. 

    Trust me.  Ask RC!  Perhaps wait for the GT3RS if it is being fitted with turbos.

    At the very least you NEED to drive the GT3 first.

    Keep the Turbo and get the GT3 as a fun extra. One is not substitute for the other.

    The 997.2 Turbo S is very up to date with PDK and everything, well appointed with extras, it has the classic engine and you have suffered the large initial depreciation anyway. The 991 is better and much more expensive, but do you want to go for just an upgrade of the same concept?

    Turbo S for everyday and the GT3 when you feel racy.

    ... its probably not worth what you have to put on top for what you will enjoy different. The GT3 is very sporty, stiff and direct, while the Turbo always had that extreme boost and the GT-sport layout. Totally different cars! I dont know whats your driving style, major roads, etc. are but if you are happy with the Turbo and it is firm enough, just the right boost then you might not be happy at all with the GT3. On the other hand side - the 991 is just so much more evolved than the 997.... test ride and decide!

    Once you are in Torque Republic its hard to go elsewhere unless you jump into a 1000 HP NA monster. Torque is so addictive. Leawood is right on the money.

    yep ! although nothing comes close to a GT3/RS sound department but you need to rev it....

    Actually the 997.2 Turbo S does not have the classic engine (DFI not Mezger)

    I agree with you guys , what everyone is generally saying is that I should test it first . I agree unfortunately the agent in dubai or Abu Dhabi claim that the only test drive would not be available for a couple of months ,,,,, it seems I will have to wait and properly evaluate it .

    to add another one on this thread : has anyone changed from 997.2 turbo / turbo s to a gt3 , turbo or turbo s ? If  yes , please explain your experience

    I had such thought for 5 mins, thinking the new GT3 is cool. Then I realize I will miss the instant torque too much. I decided to keep my Turbo S.

    Mind you, I am a torque junkie. Right now in the sits a G63, S8, 12C and Turbo S, all turbo-ed cars with huge low end torque.

    In the real word, torque is king. You'll really need to rev a GT3 to get that same feeling and it might not be an ideal driving style. That said, the GT3 is way better looking IMO.

    Can't hurt to go test one, right?

    I'd much rather have a high revving N/A with less toque, even for a daily driver. Its much more fun
