    Ferrari California T

New Ferrari California T - Always an event when a new Ferrari is released. Not as big an evolution from the previous model as I would expect. But its growing on me...

I also kind of have the feeling that this car will be cheaper than the current 991 Turbo S Cab, putting some additional pressure on Porsche. Yes, the California T is an exotic but not exotic enough to not cause trouble for the 991 Turbo S Cab.

The new car may be bad news for current California owners but actually good news for those who are looking for a "cheaper" California along the way. I am pretty sure that used car prices for the "old" California will drop substantially once the California T makes it to the streets. 70 hp more cannot be ignored and the design looks fresher (even if I actually like the previous version more).

I get what you mean; a bit overdesigned.
It may be a lot less in your face in real life though, as these press pictures always seem to artificially stress the curves and design lines in cars. In real life, these lines may blend in with the total shape of the car a bit better.

I love it!!! First Ferrari in years that I actually like designwise. I can't see any "Mercedes touch" to be honest... If there was one, I would notice it, because I simply hate Mercedes indecision smiley  The only thing I don't like so much is the retractable hardtop... This could actually be a car that I'd like to see in my garage in the very near future....

Exciting times. I think this def ups the pressure on the competition within this group - 911 TT, AMG GT, R8, Aston Martin new AMG cored Vantage next Gen. Also means the 458 successor heads well into the 620hp+ range to complete with McLaren and Lambo.....Long live progress!

991.2 TTS needs to be 600hp at least.....

Looks amazing. Finally they changed the strange-looking exhaust of the previous model. If that thing is price-wise in the same league as the Turbo S Cab, it will generate a lot of pressure for Porsche. I am eagerly awaiting the first driving videos. I suspect mind-blowing engine sound. Oh sorry, I forgot - it is impossible to have good sound with turbo engines. Says Porsche. blush

Don't like the sound on the video clip.

The question is - does out resident Ferrari expert (Nick) like it. LOL

I seem to recall that Nick really disliked the original while I always thought it was OK.

    Cheers.

    Re: Ferrari California T

The California is an awesome car. I drove mine today although it was -12c. Nice to see more hp, the T will be really fast... Any other changes?

    Re: Ferrari California T

I like it a lot. much better looking than its predecesor. It somehow looks a lot more Ferrari than before. The small changes really made a huge difference on this car.

    Re: Ferrari California T

I like it very, very much! kiss

(I never thought I would say that about the California. indecision)

For me the California T is a big improvement over its predecessor in every single aspect. Design, engine, power, torque, interior, you name it. I really like this car. Especially after the Speciale I was a bit concerned about the future Ferrari design development, as I think the Speciale was somehow some sort of "disimprovement" of the original 458-design. But with the California T they did everything right IMO.

    Re: Ferrari California T

Looks more like a facelift really. In the pics the car looks more refined but somehow also more busy and less elegant. Interior is practically unchanged except for more functions on the steering wheel. Chassis seems to be a very small evolution. Engine however is the big difference. Better? Probably. But 0.2s 0-100 doesn't seem like much. IMHO earlier California prices will not be affected but California 30 will drop right away instead of "hanging in" like one year old Ferrari usually do,

Without AWD and with a twin turbo charged engine and massive torque, it is quite difficult to improve 0-100 kph (62 mph) acceleration times. I am pretty sure however that from 0-200 kph (125 mph), the California T will be a lot faster than the old one.

It was designed to attract women drivers.

Honestly, I am missing the design difference from the previous model. Looks the same to me.yes

    Re: Ferrari California T

This one looks like a real Ferrari, the previous looked more like a Maserati trying to be a Ferrari Smiley Never liked the first generation, but this new one is a winner in all aspects, what a beautiful car.

    Re: Ferrari California T

agree - a huge step in the right direction !

    Re: Ferrari California T

The best looking Ferrari in the current range, IMO. Definitely one of the best front-engine F shapes of all time.

Classic but fresh styling, very well proportioned, practical  and not exotically wild so as not allow daily usage. The way they corrected the clumsy rear is very effective. Also, because this is a more daily car they didn't go into some of design extravagances seen on the F12B, which is a good thing.

If Ferrari decide to build a normal coupe (without the folding hardtop) I shall be tempted.

It looks good enough that at Ferrari Club meets owners wont have to brag that they still have the original factory Italian air in their tires. smiley

BMW owners can only see such shapes for their cars in their wet dreams, judging by the Bavarian offerings of the last 20 years.

    Re: Ferrari California T

As I haven't been a huge fan of the California in the beginning it turned completely after a test ride last summer. The car was driving amazing. It really was the GT-Tourer which had the potential to turn into a beast when driving hard.

The new update looks great and now I even like the front look. Unfortunately the car will be 200+€ and out of my range for a fun car.
