Still...I am curious to see how McLaren's answer to Ferrari's 458 Speciale looks alike.

Another tuned 12C?
McLaren seems to be no better than Lamborghini in this respect.
650 hp seems promising nevertheless and if the rumoured modifications to the front and rear are heading in the right design direction, this could be a very interesting car.

I'm holding out hope they handle this well, but the rumor is the 12C is discontinued and won't be a retro-fit. If so, they just burned a huge amount of customers. Spiders are barely 1 year on the road, most not even that, at least in the US. I bought a coupe used, way low in price so I'm not overly worried, but I'd be livid if I just bought a 2013/2014 Spider. Depreciation is going to be even more staggering on those if the 650S comes out as a vastly different car.
If you can read Dutch, seems like the first set of real info. For the rest of us, some nice pics until the other sites release info post embargo...

The McLaren product strategy is starting to confuse me. The 650S is basically a MP12 with new front end and more power. Where does this put the MP12 now? And what about the cheaper P13....another MP12 with different front end and less power.....

McLaren has always been about one platform and spawn cars up and down from that one platform, kinda like the Aston Martin VH platform.
The 12C is the base, the P1 is the 12C cranked to max, the 650S is the 12C cranked to somewhere in between, and the new P13 will be the 12C cranked down to minus.
They are all basically the same car.

I think this had added a lot of favours into the current 12C.... I am not sure about the price of this sexy poppy! This appearance of the car is putting the 458 behind far away like the actual performance figures....

Maybe confuse was the wrong word for me to use - disappoint probably sums up better. Aston Martin use their shared platform to better varied effect if I was to use Aston as comparison. Ferrari use their platforms to better varied effect also.
Creating a range of cars like Mclaren does seems a bit well lame to be frank...

The 650S is not even cousins making out, it's siblings, sister had a baby with the brother. It has the front of the P1 and the rear of the 12C. 
Aston Martin at least bother to alter the wheelbase to vary the offerings. McLaren is either too lazy or simply constrained by the 12C architecture to do anything about masking the origins of their products.
Ferrari never really share platforms, 458, California, FF and F12 all sits on different architectures. That's the proper way to do cars compared with McLaren. But then again McLaren is more constrained by money and they can't actually afford to spend major money on developing different platforms, until they can collect all the P1 money first. Making several variations of the 12C is the only way for them to amortized the development cost. I can see them milking the platform till almost 2020.

I actually like the F1 but even more the 12C. 
Not design masterpieces but OK. Now the 650S is a different story, this car really looks as if it came out GTA V.

Many Thanks Guys. For me it was a mind-boggling tour da force over the last 1/2 year always thinking what to do and what is the best and wisest decision. I felt in love with the 12C first time I saw the pics back 2011 and when I drove last year the 12C I was sold. Options had been:
Staying with my 997.1 Turbo which is in good condition but after now 100000 km some upgrades and repairs are obvious
MP4-12C Coupe End 2012 Model 0km black for about 208k €
991 Turbo S Coupe Rhodium Silver with 7000km for 210k €
650S Coupe New for around 300k €
And today I got the offer for an 12C Spider Graphite Grey with 4500km for 235k €
For new orders there was a lil hurry because in Austria the tax for new cars got raised per 15.02. quite badly. Turbo S going up 15k € and 12C/650S up around 25k €. For on stock new cars the deadline is 28.02. so I was I lil bit in a tight spot ;)
and yes RC you can expect picture overload ;)

The leaks were bad quality and renders. Here's how it really looks, along with some PS colors. I think it's great looking.
These photos look better, however they have a tiny little problem: They do not show the sideline of the car and I guess I know why.
