Does anyone know if impulse red is available at launch?
Impulse Red and Sapphire Blue are both coming online after 10/2014. I've heard mixed reports about it referring to week 10 of 2014 or October 2014, but it isn't available at the moment. Soon, soon.

Indeed many different rumors about this... When I asked at my dealership early december, they said it would be week 10, but I haven't ask again after that, since I'm not really interested in the Macan anymore. i've also read that some dealers have confirmed it will be october before options become available.
I'm quite curious about that color and if there come more options, like leather options and the option to get exterior parts painted like the rear fascia. It looks kinda odd now with lighter colors. The lower part of the rear bumper is black plastic, while you can get the sideskirts painted. The car looks like it isn't finished.
Not really convinced about the Macan yet....

I know that launching an entirely new model line is an enormous challenge for any automaker, but I can't help but feel that Porsche may have bitten off more than they could chew with the Macan launch.
Here are a few issues I have with the Macan launch/Porsche marketing thus far:
- Using feature vehicles and slapping up advertisements with a car in a color that isn't presently available or without any certainty regarding its availability is a big disappointment and raises question marks. Why offer me something that I can't currently have/I don't know the availability of?
- The current color options on the configurator are relatively safe and dare I say it... dull. The interior options are worse with three solid interior colors, one two-tone and one natural leather only. See the point above regarding the advertisements featuring the black Macan Turbo with the agate/pebble grey interior.
- The mystery with the sports exhaust system. The PSE was mentioned in all the press releases and on Porsche's official website but it's been pulled since with no further mention.
- Key options like the LED headlights, PDCC, painted rear fascia and other customizable exterior bits [painted air intakes, etc.] are all missing.
I realize that not all options are initially available at launch, but I would've expected a more seamless and transparent debut from Porsche. With all Macan allocations for 2014 being rumored to have been sold and Porsche sniffing out the possibility of ramping production up from 50000 units to 80000 per year, I think they're just after the numbers for the time being.
I still love the Macan but I'll be waiting on the sidelines until things come together.

Really had a chance today to compare space and feel of a Q5 to my 2009 Cayenne Turbo S, with the idea of getting a feel for what a Macan with be like compared to a Cayenne. The Q5, understandably, feels noticeably smaller inside, both height and width, and there is a clear sense of sitting lower to the road. The back seat room seems fine, unless one will be transporting adults often, and the luggage space--although small--will expand well with the back seats folded down.
Bottom line, those who like the roomier feel and taller stance of a Cayenne, will--at least initially--feel a bit cramped in a Macan...
GM Austin:
I've had more the feeling of too much room in the Cayenne, that it was really bigger than what I needed and all that space went largely unused.
You'd be surprised how much luggage room you are going to need with a little kid.
My wife was always happy that she was able to put the baby stroller into the Cayenne without having to fold it. Just one example. We also often used the cargo space in the rear to change diapers because it was flat and much easier (and cleaner) than using the rear leather seat.
