It is going to be in the Carrera price range. $102,595 (Targa 4), $117,195 (Targa 4S).
"The 911 Targa 4 and 4S both cost a couple hundred dollars less than a comparable Carrera 4 model. The new Porsche 911 Targa goes on sale this summer."
According to Porsche, the new 911 Targa's performance is set to match that of the current 911 Carrera and Cabriolets. The 911 Targa 4 is expected to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 5.0 seconds with either the seven-speed manual or PDK selected, with that time dropping to 4.8 seconds on PDK-equipped cars with the Sport Chrono package. The 911 Targa 4S will accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.6 seconds with the manual, or 4.4 seconds with the PDK. Zero to sixty performance will improve to 4.2 seconds with the Sport Chrono box checked. Top speed for the 911 Targa 4 is 174 mph with the PDK, or 175 mph with the manual. The 911 Targa 4S is limited to 182 mph with the PDK, or 183 mph with the manual

Just played with the configurator for the Targa and exceeded 200k CHF... - this is madness....- actually makes me mad. This makes a well specced Macan turbo seriously a bargain.
Yup, the Macan and the Boxster both look like baragins compared to the 911.

I'm not detracting from the quality of the engineering/machines themselves or the exclusivity they may be going for... But is Porsche seriously pushing it with their pricing?rulesdontapply
Demand and...well, you know the rest.
As long as we, as customers, pay the prices they ask...
For a "mass producer", their prices have become quite high in my opinion and even if Mercedes AMG doesn't do things much differently, at least I get up to 20% rebate on (almost) new cars.

It is the difference in price between the models which is the most interesting.
You get a nicely spec'ed Boxster S and a nicely spec'ed Macan Turbo for the price of a 4S with some options.

Cayman 911 Cayenne and Panamera pricing is out of hands...
Interesting perspective:
in 2007 i sold a 4 year old 996 C4C for $63. List price was $97k
today the selling price of a 4 year old 997 C4S conv is $65k. List price was $120k.
Porsche used to be great values. Now they are just like any other car.

The car looks dated. But I suppose that is the point. If so, Porsche has done a very good job.
Nick,
It would be argued by many that the whole 911 concept/styling is dated
Odd how we pay more money today to capture the past. I wonder why that is?

I don't think "dated" is the right word for the 911 generally or the Targa specifically. The Targa is obviously heavily retro, but there's nothing "dated" about the designs to my eye. (And, it's not like there is anything objectively bad about them. For example, the Cd values are fairly good.) "Classic" may be applicable to some extent, and there's nothing "bad" about classic, especially when it's been refined over many years. Good design is good design. Familiarity doesn't make it bad.
No, they don't look like futuristic spaceships, but cars that do, like the Huracan, are, frankly, a bit silly looking. Obviously, many people want "different" for different's sake, but "different" doesn't equal good, it's just different.

Probably because of goodwill of many years of 911. Before Porsche worked to build 911 into a brand. Now the brand of 911 is the reason they charge such amounts for mass produced cars.

Porsche is not quite the company it once was, instead, it has focused on volume, with greater margins, in market areas. Unfortunately, the aura of what was once Porsche is gone.

agree...dated from even the 1940s if you trace the silhouette to Erwin Komenda's late 30's " peoples car" beetle done by order of Adolph Hitler

But their list prices are actually lower these days , adjusted for inflation. I remember a neighbor who bought TWO 911 C4 cabs -at the same time - in 1991 for around $90K each . Resale just as crummy then as now - a silver lining though, since that means you can drive it a s much as you want, versus some Ferraris where $50 K taken off pre-owned asking price if soot is found on the muffler tips .
not on the swiss market ! if you calculate in % the amounts you loose are horrible.
I was just speccing a Macan Turbo and got to 125k CHF vs 204 CHF for the Targa - and wonder why you have to pay so much for proper leather in the targa against a list-base-price of 168k - also PCM etc - which is standart in CH paket with 105 base price of the Macan ? Such a rip-off for a tinier cockpit than in the Macan. Now that I saw a 991turbo for 227 very well specced - new.... - makes zero sense to me. Conclusion ? Macan Turbo or 991TT are the best offers - (at least to me with Porsche). I am seriously drawn towards AMG with these kind of offers.....
