I would be more concerned in getting the repair done correctly. Given that it is cosmetic vs mechanical, I would think the Porsche dealer would not penalize you at trade in time as long as it does not require them to repair it for resale.

I am not sure if carfax is available in Canada but in the US a potential buyer can search on the serial number to see service history and repairs on the car.

nachi,

definitely go to an authorised Porsche repairer, just to make sure htey match the white paint properly. its not as straightforwad as it seems. also, i m no expert but make sure they do a good job over the wheel arch cos thats the sexiest part of the whole car imo!

and good on you for admitting u did the damage, cos i think most people can tell its the driver who did it

also check the wheel alignment as well make sure its not off.

as for the black rims and mods etc.... dont rice it up.... keep it standard, its a Porsche, not a Honda....

btw, u look awfully young to be driving a Porsche. how old r u if u dont mind me asking?
too many rich kids.... i m jealous.

the thing with getin' it done by authorized porsche repairer is that it is costly!!! i still am not sure! i googled some Maaco complaints and they're pretty bad... so i still don't know! ahhh!!!

btw, i'm 21!
boxster is not too expensive, comparin' it to Z4, SLK, TT, CrossFire, etc... the resale value retains pretty well!

There is a reason that Maaco is priced so low--you will get what you pay for (looked at this for another car in the past). I would echo the get it done right comment, then it shouldn't effect resale. A mediocre paint job will show and could set a potential buyer off.

yeah, sounds like a dodgy repairer. STAY AWAY!!! u could do without the headaches or trying to deal with those guys if things didnt go right.

and i m sure the guys will be trashing your car like theres no tomorrow.
if u bring to a Porsche repairer, they wouldnt even be interested in driving your car, let alone thrashing it, cos they have other 911 and GT3s to "play" with....

and well done on getting a Porsche @ 21. impressive.

I m 26 and everyone thinks I m too young to drive a Porsche. and u r 21!!

Are cars in Toronto the same as US, eg tax etc???
cos in australia, its double the US price!!

so I should be driving a 911 in the States! ahh!!! I wanna move!

No - according to the Porsche workshop, because the impact was too low down. The safety beam did it's job, you can see the diagonal outline of it at the top of the damaged area.
