The stock wiper blades (which i currently have) are rubbish. After 10-20 wipes they begin rubbing almost bouncing across the windshield making a ridiculously distracting noise. Furthermore, this inhibits them from adequately removing rain from the glass.

Make sure the glass is clean. Could be non-obvious (wax) residue on the screen following washing. It's best not to clean the glass with body wash if you can help it, and/or clean the glass seperately afterwards with a non-abraisive glass cleaner. I had some really bad jitters on my blades early on. Couldn't work out why. Then I cleaned the glass.

We automatically associate the noise with the wipers, when the problem is generally caused by an invisible film of some contaminant on the windshield.

Yup, I use Rain-X too, and can second sdy284 on that. Particularly useful on dark rainy nights.
I should google it myself.

Ha, I'll just pop into Halford's for a bottle at the weekend!
Hmmm. Since the nearest branch is probably a round trip of about 1800 km I should maybe get two bottles.![]()

I just realised that I didn't thank you for your trouble in posting that info.
Thanks!

I don't think its the blades too be honest. I put rejex on my windshield and it makes a world of difference. I'm sure rainex does the same. Windows are silky smooth.

) - my electric toothbrush. Seems to have worked well - you can feel the difference as you run your fingers along the blade. A bit bizarre, but cheaper than changing the blades every 6 months!
Rain-X does seem to help minimise the effect of these micro-scratches in sunlight through - I guess it sort of fills in the cracks.

I've just cleaned (Auto Glym glass cleaner) and re-proofed (Rain-X) my screen. Additionally to try to prevent the blades smearing, I removed and gleaned the blades thoroughly with the glass cleaner and - (no laughing) - my electric toothbrush. Seems to have worked well - you can feel the difference as you run your fingers along the blade.
