    Re: OFFICIAL: Porsche Macan

    Avoe:

What I don't like, the brakes on the Turbo look really really small, and the worst part, the rear brake calipers! Why did they use those standard calipers on the back? This trend is actually visible on so many cars, AMG and Ms as well. I think it looks poor and I don't see any benefit beside cost saving?!

Good point, but I also think that 21" is too big for the Macan, the 20" Spyder wheels look right. This will also make the brakes look better in proportion.

Looks nice!  I like the final taillight look.  Here's one of the many reviews that will be coming out today:

I normally hate SUVs but I rather like this.  Definitely the best of the bunch on paper so I can't wait to try one

Love the MF steering wheel... why can't the 911 and Panamera (actually all other models) get it too?

    Re: OFFICIAL: Porsche Macan

Out of interest, how many other SUVs have dual clutch gearbox? Are we likely to see this in the Cayenne any time soon I wonder?

    Re: OFFICIAL: Porsche Macan

Pretty good. The rear appears a bit too bulbous for my taste. The Macan continues the tradition of Porsche SUV's having much better front end styling than rear end styling (the front is great, especially on the non-Turbo model).

I love this blue color. Is it not the same Sapphire blue available on the other models? It looks a bit lighter, but hard to tell from the pictures. This could easily displace Maritime Blue a my favorite...

    Time to place an order...

Only entry level Audi Q5... And this PDK is IMHO the biggest problem for Macan. IF it is as smooth at low speed and city driving as Panamera 4S PDK for example then I would not be interested at all in Macan.

There IS a good reason why other manufactures are using current SOTA 8 speed automatic in SUVs...

    PDK in Cayenne? SmileySmiley

PDK is natural choice for sportscar a la 991 or 981. BUT, not(IMHO) for SUV or even a sport sedan.

I think it looks very good, better than what is out there, and I'm sure that dinamically it will no doubt have the Porsche DNA and will be a step above the other compact SUVs in that too, but the reservation I have is if they have compromised too much practicality and versatility in a SUV in favor of the two aforementioned aspects.

Afterall its still a SUV and people who are looking for a SUV want a SUV (and not a saloon or much less a sportscar) because of its interior room, luggage space, confort, various climate and road versatility, etc... if you depart too much from those basic characteristics of a SUV, you may end up with a car that is neither a sporty car or a SUV, an can only appeal to those that have a fancy or impulse for it, but not the mainstream target population because it may have some deal brakers like for example, will older children fit confortably in the rear? will the rear luggage space be enough for most people? will de PDK be smooth enough compared to a torque converter, will it handle the strees and heat in slippery conditions like a torqueconverter? etc.

    we will see....

    Re: OFFICIAL: Porsche Macan

Major advancement in design--tail lights, nose, side cuts, sport MTF wheel.  Porsche better bring out Cayenne FL quickly because demand for current model will melt away like butter on hotcakes.

    A remarkable debut...

they are only showing the start price in Canada, but extrapolating from that it looks like you could build this car of yours for under $105kCDN. that would be some $35k - $40k less than a similar Cayenne.

    Carlos,

    you nailed potential Macan problems.Smiley

Very sporty SUV... What the f.ck does that mean?

A SUV that drives like 991? Well, that is a lie. Because, even a 991C4S will drive circles around Macan Turbo on race track.

Why would someone with small family(like myself, wife and one kid) get a Macan Turbo as a first car(if 991 Turbo S acts like a sportscar)?

I will probably be fryed for this-for ME Audi SQ5 TDI or S6 Avant(if I want sport caravan) any time over Macan. And I am huge Porsche fan(specially latest 991 Turbo/Turbo S or 991 GT3)...

    Re: OFFICIAL: Porsche Macan

Not so sure, if I were in the market for Q5, Evoque, XC60  or X3 - I'd certainly be looking very closely at the Macan. The sporting nature & brand cachet might very well sway me. (however I still need 7 seats!)

The 4 cyl variants will draw even more folks to the brand - who knows, this might even drive the labor rates down meaning my 991 will be even cheaper to service!

    Re: OFFICIAL: Porsche Macan

    Hi all!

Just configured a Macan Diesel S  and compared the final price with a Range Rover Sport :

Finally with the necessary equipment it´s absolutely the same price ( having in mind that on RRS you´ll get 10 % discount instead of only 5 % on Macan ).

The engine on RRS is 292 hp instead of 258 hp on Porsche and RRS has much much more space inside.

Sure - Porsche is sportier .... but minimum 10.000 EUR too expansive.

    Best

FWIW - in the UK, the Evoque has been a big success. Many of the 2012 cars will be coming off-lease in 2015 just as the 4 cyl deliveries kick off. I personally expect many will migrate from LR to Porsche.

    Re: OFFICIAL: Porsche Macan

I think the Macan looks attractive, but the pricing of the S is challenging in the UK, especially considering that the standard specification doesn't include essentials such as metallic paint, bluetooth and leather upholstery.

I noticed in the press release that the boot capacity is only 17.7 cubic feet, which is less than my wife's Evoque. I think that the space in that isn't enough so the Macan is definitely not the most practical!

    Re: OFFICIAL: Porsche Macan

Anyone know if PCC (Porsche Car Connect) is available for other models? Can it be retrofitted? Seems to be made by the same folks who do the PVTS system....

Good looking in my opinion, but once again I hate that price differnce between Switzerland and the USA.

105 Suissies against  72 usd for the Turbo, that's 40% difference, crazy!!

The UK used to be worse for this, especially in the late 90's  - happily this seems to have been addressed now.

Take a look at Global Car Trading. My wife just bought her Range Rover there and is very happy.

    Re: OFFICIAL: Porsche Macan

Pretty nice! MPG? I priced a somewhat loaded Macan Turbo for $92k, $30k cheaper than Cayenne.

Between a Macan and a Panamera, for the price difference, the Macan is a much much better proposition...

The DCTs tried on the Cayenne prototypes overheated during slow speed off road maneuvers and when towing at slow speeds. It was decided that on cars with offroad bias torque converter autos are the more suitable.

Apparently the Macan is not destined for serious offroading and the more "sporty" PDK was chosen.

Audi in the Q5 they use both S-tronic (Diesel 2.0 and 3.0) and tiptronic (petrol 2.0 and 3.0 and 3.0 diesel in the SQ5).

    Re: OFFICIAL: Porsche Macan

Am I the only one that thinks the Macan (especially the Turbo) is a real bargain??

Just specced a Macan Turbo on the Swiss configurator and it's only CHF15k more expensive than what I paid for my SQ5. That's a lot less than I expected and that's even without any discounts.

Too bad that not all options are available yet. Black/Saddle or Agate/Pebble interiors will be available from oktober 2014 and i miss some other options (especially leather options and exterior colors), but I guess those will come available in the upcoming months, like always with Porsche.

i definitely want one, but I guess I'll have to wait untill next year when all options come available. Great car! Exactly how I want an SUV to be. :)
