I have no problem being spotted in a 997TT that people didn't like ... I do have a problem driving a Rice Rocket coupe with the BMW badge

Hey! I've got a rice-rocket with a Subaru badge, and in 38 days time will pick up my brand new 997S! There's nothing wrong with a rice-rocket

how did we go from rice and a seasoned car (the bmw M3) that sets the industry trend on what a perfomance luxury car should and shouldn't be. Take for example the current M5- everyone hated the way it looks and that it is ugly, too big, doesn't sound like a race car. TIP- goto a bmw dealer... have the dealer rev the engine and then you will get a clue. Or drive one and put it in it's full mode and watch what happens- it will blow ur mind.

M3 is a glorified rice rocket, with a European pedigree premium - many will disagree and that's fine, but when you inject a normal sedan with that much power, seems a bit weird...
Me and BMW dealer (BMW Wall Street) as dealer starts the car
Me as I take the M5 for test drive while getting to red line (this was in Feb of '06), the M3 in April of '05
Repeat above steps at the dealership where I got my Porsche (where I have the privilege of hearing real sports cars that they sell rev - Porsche, Lambo, Spyder and Saleen, etc.)
I couldn't replicate that reaction with any BMW, not the ricer M3, the pseudo-ricer M5, or the M6 coupe but-I'm-really-a-5-series-with-new-clothing-and-a-huge-premium but-I-still-look-like-a-boat

come on guys... people have different tastes and needs. I drive a 911 and love it- and I have a z4. I am replacing the z4 with a better and more usable car. The Boxster was on my option list, but I honestly don't like it-- 240 hp or 280hp and for the same cost as the base Boxster S I could get an Mz4 with 315hp? nah, I would rather stay with bmw on this one. But again, different strokes for different folks. I like the M3 b/c it is a young persons car and I am a young person- it works out well.
However, I would not buy a 911 TT (996) b/c I think that the GT3 is better- and that is a racier car- with it's large wing and body style- it's just more intense.

truth be known I'm quite fond of my ricer, even when the 911 arrives... don't think I'll sell it cos I've just put some good stuffs in it so it can run with the 911 when I'm driving it trying to chase my wife in the 997S
