Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

My 991 went last December. I still have the spider.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

    Looks flat white to me

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

    ISUK:

My dealer has found another customer for it and told me the entire UK allocation is sold out.

sold out even before it's on the roads ..  amazing

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

I've just got a call from my dealer. He's got an allocation for the Turbo Cab for December delivery. Still no confirmed dates for the Turbo S Cab but he said that Jan / Feb are pretty sure.

You are aware that the 991 Turbo and Turbo S Cabriolets haven't even been announced yet officially?

Currently, it seems that both will be available spring 2014. I didn't hear any rumor of an earlier availability, so I am quite surprised to hear that your dealer got a december allocation. Weird.

As a little hint: 991 Turbo (Coupe, not Cab) deliveries start in November. I would be very surprised to learn that one month later, the Cab production will start. Just doesn't sound right.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

Agreed... am very skeptical to believe Turbo cabs are being allocated as early as December.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

I also think that its strange but so far our dealer has been correct about availabilities and he always has very, very early allocations. Time will tell about this one.

I will wait for some more tests until I go for the Turbo S Cab. Back in 2007 the 997TT (Cab) was an easy choice with practically no competition. This time the situation is different. For 220K EUR there are more options. For some completely irrational reasons I'd like to see some satisfactory 200-300 km/h numbers. Otherwise I know that it would be the smartest choice. After 6 years of everyday driving and 65 000 km on the terrible roads in Bulgaria the 997TT gave me all the reasons to be loyal.

I doubt that you are going to find a better driver in the daily driver department of super sports cars. Maybe the SLS but thats it. Not sure if you drive your car in winter time but I remember to be quite a lot of snow in Bulgaria in winter time, so AWD would be highly recommended.

I do not say your dealer is completely wrong but it is very unlikely (haven't checked any of our sourced yet though).

I am covered in the snowing days by my RS6 saloon. It's funny that I bought it for a daily driver but it turned out that for me there's no better daily driver than the Turbo. I am going to keep the 997TT for sentimental reasons so I am tempted to get something more "exotic" for the weekends. The SLS is out of question but the Cabrera could be interesting. The major problem with Lamborghini, Ferrari and MacLaren is the lack of local service center so every warning light on the dash would mean 1400km trip to Munich....

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-lmH9s6wAc

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFddiPTq_1c

The white car looks like a pearl white more than a gloss white.  Is the white different on a Turbo-S?  Or is that a color not in the configurator?

The car at IAA was plain white as far as I know.

Went to the IAA today. The Turbo S, next to the 918 is Oryx white metalic. Took some pictures of it:

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

Oryx White . Isn't this the first time a metallic white was offered on any 911?

Those black plastic air intake liners would look a lot better painted to match the body. They just look too downmarket. angry

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

Hm,i think a white car needs black details, otherwise it looks like a refridgerator (ok maybe not those vent holes but bumper must not be fully white)

That's exactly what I thought now, when I saw the Turbo for the first time in person. On a dark color it isn't a problem, but on a a light color it looks cheap. Also was not very impressed by the 918 Smiley If someone told me the car's price was €200k I would immediately believe it and still would think it's expensive. I'm a bit disapointed to be honest....Smiley Maybe my expectations were to high....

Regarding the Oryx white, I think you're right. They had Glacier white on the PTS list (Audi color) but never saw Oryx white on a Porsche. (Think it's a VW color, since the Golf VII has that on the optionlist)

BTW... I don't think I saw a big brand without one or more cars in metallic white... Seems to be hot nowadays.

Suzy, what do you think of the Turbo now seeing it in the flesh?

I think you are spot on on the 918. Doesn't do much either to me. Maybe an even swap for my 458, maybe Smiley

I'm not sure what to think about the Turbo to be honest. Maybe I'm the wrong person to ask that to, because I never really liked any 911 Turbo. Just not really my cup of tea. It's the spoiler I think..... Although I the 991 Turbo still is the best looking Turbo IMO (by far). I'm always in a kind of love/hate relationship with the Turbo. I love low end torque and sheer speed a lot, but mostly don't like the looks of it. (Depends on the color though, black looks best IMO because the things I don't like are the least visible that way)

Regarding the 458... I'm half italian and a Ferrari fan, but I'm not a fan of the 458 and I can't really tell you why, because I don't know it myself. It just doesn't do it for me I guess....Smiley

Well, I'll be controversial....again. I LOVE the Turbo. At first I though it weird, but the looks have grown on me , so much so, that I now think it is better looking than the GT3angry.

It would look horrible. I saw a car exactly like that (in yellow) and didn't look good at all. Carbon side intakes would look nice though.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

They could at least be painted/treated in a shade of matte black, instead of raw plastic. BMW and Audi do this treatment and it looks more expensive and easier to keep clean.

Same with the lower parts of the various 991 and 981 models that are in bare black plastic.

It actually looks quite good in reality but I guess tastes are always different. Smiley I would like carbon inlets (GT2 RS style) but I'm not sure if this would be too much on a white car.

Porsche could at least have those on the €200.000+ S model for some additional  differentiation.

Yes, indeed. The Turbo S could have had carbon inlets to differentiate it from the regular Turbo model but I guess this isn't really Porsche's style. yes

Next Sport Auto brings the 991 GT3 Supertest, so I guess the issue after that could offer the 991 Turbo S Supertest. Not sure though.
