Yeah, we've had that discussion before, where people started talking down to the people that wanted to disable the chime. 
My example has always been that it's annoying if you were to say, need to pull the car out onto the driveway in order to wash it. You're not going anywhere--you're just backing the car out of the garage and there's this annoying beep going off the whole time.
There's other examples, but basically I'm not stupid enough to not wear my belt when I'm driving and I don't need an annoying reminder about it.

I took mine to my local car audio shop. The tec suggested that we put a set of resistors on the seatbelt mechanism so that it will reproduce the voltage output that the seatbelt has when locked in place. Had to go back to the dealership to get a light reset free of charge. I paid 25 dollars for this job. Its been over 6 months and not one problem.
