    GT3 RS 4.0 measured weight

For those of you who are interested in power to weight ratio, Monday we put my 4.0 on the scale at my race team garage.

Full 90L tank. And options are Aircon, GPS with sounds system, full leather, motorsport battery, clubsport with rollcage.

    Result: 1422 kg

Honestly when you factor in the full tank, the rollcage and all the comfort options, I'd say it is a very respectable result. Especially compared to the competition.

Other two cars I've measured recently where the BMW M3 CRT with half a tank (1552 kg, also very good for such a large four doors)

and the Porsche Singer with a third tank (1230 kg) and that little beast churns out over 350hp, it's a rocket!

Re: GT3 RS 4.0 measured weight

    Thanks, I value this info.

Re: GT3 RS 4.0 measured weight

hence the fun with the handling - actually I can feel a difference even with full or almost empty tank - I recently have given the keys to a friend who owns a 4S - and purposely have not joined - having driven it with 1/3 of a tank he was totally flashed with the way it handles ! weight is everything kiss Thanks for sharing !

Re: GT3 RS 4.0 measured weight

Does the handling change at all with full tank or almost empty?.

I remember in the very much lighter 3.0 SC I could feel the difference.

Re: GT3 RS 4.0 measured weight

+/- 90 kgs or 20 kgs on a already light front - you can sense it - I dunno if you could measure - and if - probably only slightly like acceleration times of SA with 2 passenger and full tank vs 1 and almost empty - but subjectively you sense more lightness for sure ...

Re: GT3 RS 4.0 measured weight

I take it yours is a left hand drive ?

1422kg put against the GT2RS is not really spectacular for an iconic model like the 4.0RS yes

    No worries. Yes LHD.

What did you expect for a road car? I don't know the weight of the GT2RS (measured not official) but it's probably heavier.

Porsche claims 1360 kgs officially for the 4.0 and that's probably with the small tank, no comfort option and no rollcage so the figure for me is very good indeed.

Re: GT3 RS 4.0 measured weight

The 1,230kg beast must be a very special car to drive in the twisties angel

What about the F40 ? Ferrari keeps on bragging about 1,100kg dry weight (1,352kg US-Spec)

The SA measured GT2RS (90l tank) came in at 1405kg but that was with all the "lighty" bits, others highly optioned measured elswhere were at the 1430 mark.....

I suppose with cage the 1422kg is OK - my 7GT2 with different wheels and full 64l tank weighs in at 1440kg so I guess I just expected more (or less Smiley) from the 4.0RS

Do you have PCCB brakes on the car you weighed?

Yes and proper recaro bucket seats.

Re: GT3 RS 4.0 measured weight

Then it sounds just about right. All car weights are in the lightest possible spec with 90% fuel tank. The 4.0 is offered with a smaller tank, without the roll cage and with no AC. Thats how you get to 1360 kg. Or the other way round: 1360 kg + AC 15 kg + Roll cage 17 kg + 30 liters of fuel 22 kg + Sound system at 4 kg + Full leather at 4 kg = 1422 kg.

Can you run your calculation above for the Carrera GT which Porsche claimed 1380kg yet customer cars were 1460+kg Smiley

Thanks turbo Ralf, very interesting to know the breakdown. If I had to do it again, I would opt out of the full leather, it looks, feels and smells nice but can definitely do without in this kind of car. Aircon is really nice in the summer to be honest, as is the infotainment when cruising imo. 90L fueltank is also quite nice for long trips.

    Rollcage seems light at 17kg?

Bang on! Porsche Reading weighted my GT with a full tank and it came in at exactly 1460kg?

It has Aircon and Sound system. Those 80kg are a mystery, unless they mention the "poids en ordre de marche" i.e. with just enough petrol to drive a few km?

As for GT3RS 4.0 and GT2RS, official difference is 10kg so the values are consistent.

Re: GT3 RS 4.0 measured weight

    Great info, thanks for sharing!

They recently put my CSL on the scales as well, with a full tank of fuel + roll cage it came in at 1401kgs, not too bad imo.

Re: GT3 RS 4.0 measured weight

Sorry, I have no data on the Carrera GT. I checked my notes again from when ordering the 4.0 and my memory was not entirely correct: AC: 18 kg, Rear roll cage: 20 kg, floor carpets 2 kg, Standard radio 5 kg, Nav with Sound package 11 kg (6 kg more than the std radio). With these changes Futchs car should weigh: 1360 kg + AC 18 kg + rear roll cage 20 kg + 30 liters of fuel 22 kg + Nav with sound package 11 kg + Full leather 4 kg = 1435 kg. So it is actually lighter than it should be - you got the leather and the Nav package "for free"!

I have the motorsport battery which saves approx 10kgs.

Thanks again for these date, really useful.

Very very descent for a modern car, waoh! I love the CSL.

Re: GT3 RS 4.0 measured weight

Happy to help. The motor sport battery actually does not save 10 kg vs. the stated 1360 kg weight. I just does not add 10 kg to the stated weight.

I have another point which might have distorted your test results: did you make sure to use a scale made in Germany for your test Smiley
