Having all the lettering removed from the rear is a must on the Turbo. Too many digits squeezed in a limited space.

BTW this blue suits the Turbo.

I actually think the letters fits the car better. That rear bumper section is a big piece of real estate, unlike previous generations where there was a cut line for the engine hatch to break it up.

On regular 991 I agree all the letters looks too busy, but on Turbo/Turbo S the reduced number of letters seems just right.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

I find the PORSCHE lettering on the sports cars little nouveau riche, ostentatious and lacking in good taste. On the SUVs and Panameras they can put anything they want, as these cars are not pure blood IMO.

As if the brand name wasn't enough we have to put up with the 911 sticker nowadays.

Is the rear wider than the GT3?

Yes. With the new rear axle steering, the turbo engine didn't fit in the Carrera 4 body anymore.

It's nostalgia. a lot of older Porsche's had lettering like that. I love it.

Actually I started to love it...again. When it first showed up, I didn't like it too much but now, I love it. It takes time to get used to it but what I don't like is actually the fact that I cannot order a black painted lettering. This seems to be reserved for the GT models.

Can you order round exhausts instead of those hideous square ones?

Round ones will be available at the end of the year as an option

The square ones actually look good in real life but only the black painted version on the Turbo S.

The rear of the Turbo S is pretty wide, round exhaust pipes don't really look too well in my opinion. However I think that Porsche kind of uses the square ones as some sort of identification for their Turbo models (Panamera, Cayenne and very likely Macan got them too).

They look a little bit AMG-ish, this is why Porsche should have gone for a different approach here (round, large and black maybe...oh wait, this is what the GT models get Smiley) but it could have been worse.

ct-porsche-911-gt3-vs-rsr-010-sm.jpgIt's not wider than this, and the round exhausts look just fine here.

60k EUR difference.....wow....the GT3 is incredible value and I am pretty sure A LOT will be build.....

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

As we all know, no one really needs these type of cars.  They are one of the great luxuries in life and we all are extremely fortunate to be able to afford them.  They are all quite wonderful engineering creations. Given their costs though I do want to feel excited when I walk  up to the car, climb in, crank it up and drive it off.  The 12C does this in spades.  It evokes a very strong visceral reaction in everyone I've seen even walk up to it, much less drive it.  Regarding the interior size of the 12C vs the 991, it's a good question and I have never measured it or read the figures.  I do know sitting in a 12C feels quite snug and comfortable and you have no doubt it is a high performing sports car.

All my prior 911's always gave me a thrill each morning when I saw them, got in them and cranked them up.  The very best start up sound came from my 997.1S, before the direct fuel injection of the 997.2.  Wow what an array of sounds came out of that car when it cranked up.  The 997.2 was noticeably more muted and not as nice.

After 10 days with my 991S I got to the point where I almost had no interest in even getting into the car in the morning.  As I've stated before, it felt like I was getting into a small Panamera.  Starting the engine felt like switching on an electric motor almost.  No real cranking sound, just instant on.  I understand it has to be this way if you want the ridiculous start/ stop function for stop lights, but I don't like it.  What percent of 911 owners will have the stop/stop function active?  Would guess almost zero.  This was done for PC reasons by Porsche and given the relatively tiny numbers of 911's in the world and the fact no one uses it, there will be little effect on global warming!

I am a life long Porsche fan and don't want to come across like I am bashing them.  I am just concerned about the direction they are going with the 911.  It may just be me and a few others like me.  A lot of you seem to be crazy about the 991 and that's great. I only wish Porsche the best and I am hoping to rekindle my love affair with the 911 with the 991 TTS.

Nothing new here, i wrote letters to porsche in 1990 saying the cars were too much like mercedes, but you like 997s. Everyone has different tastes  I happen to like 991s, as i doubt your mcclaren spends much time on dirt roads, 300-500 miles from your dealer.  I almost bought one, but it makes little sense for long runs but would be trippy for farting around malibu, where the mcc dealer would be 20 miles away and btw it is autogallery far and away the worst major dealer  in la. I went i drove but could bear to do biz w such a shitty dealer , mcc's choice.

Amazing video, as usual. Does anybody know what street that is at 2:15 ?

Parts of the video have been shot in Nevada near Lake Mead, so maybe somewhere in Nevada? The snow however kind of doesn't fit. Smiley Rocky Mountains maybe?

I do not like the video, it is the typical Porsche advertisement I cannot really rely to. Or like my son says...bla bla bla. Smiley As a potential customer, I want to see the car, how it drives, how it sounds, how it behaves.

Sorry, always had problems with Porsche ads, the only one I liked was the 991 Cab ad with that family.

+ 1 !  I would never choose this color when seen on a sample, but on the TT it does look fantastic.

What's the name of this red ?

looks like Zanzibar red 996 color. Amaranth isn't that a 964 color?

looks like Zanzibar red 996 color.

Zanzibar red had more of an orange tone than this colour, but this one also appears in the vid to have the same pearlescent effect in the paint as Zanzibar red.

This is not how...just saying Smiley

they are a little bit darker, but not blacked out. They are not as dark as they appear in the configurator.

if you want blacked out headlights like the car in that movie, you can order the Bi-Xenon in black.... Unless you order a Turbo S... Than it's not possible, because it comes standard with the LEDs.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

The colour in the video looks "expensive". But see how the unpainted plastic side intakes contrast badly. They look unfinished and cheap. How much it would cost Porsche to paint those on a €200.000 car? Also the unpainted plastic lower rear bumper looks too much "economy version VW". If you check the black bits on BMW and Audi they are nicely finished in black or grey paint that is easily cleaned and it never soils.

Who is signing off these things at Porsche cheeky
