Why even the house is Red Rock
We (me and family) are going to be in Colorado, Utah, Arizona and Nevada this summer, traveling from Denver to Las Vegas. If you are there somewhere along a way (Arches, Lake Powell, Zion, Antelope, Las Vegas etc.), we could have a cup of coffee.

We did exactly this trip summer 2016, but starting in LV and ending in Denver . The only complaint from the kids was : we only see rocks, rocks, and more rocks

Kids loved our last "nature" trip in the US (Yosemite, Death Valley, Bryce, Monument Valley, etc.) and they usually hate nature.
We are going to stay in LV for a couple of days after the "rocks" trip and then...off to Hawaii...and back to LA, so enough "else" to see.

Watt, we're staying basically only one full day in LA on our trip back from Hawaii. Kids want to go to Disneyland California again, haven't been there for a while. Will let you know when we have the exact dates (probably end of August, beginning of September).
This is our 25th marriage anniversary, also daughter will have finished school (German Gymnasium, Abitur...secondary school focused on preparing students to enter a university for advanced academic study) by then, big vacation (three weeks) for us, can't wait.

I'm afraid my kids will never leave...way too good life at home. 
Seriously...both kids have no plans whatsoever to detach from us (me and my wife), it is absolutely incredible. Most of their friends go partying, drinking, whatever and they prefer to stay with us old farts. 
This makes us proud of course but also worries us a little bit. Time will tell but so far, we are stuck with them forever.

My son is the same, attached to us but its better than being out around drink, drugs and fighting..He needs to get himself a girlfriend though to find and develop his personal emotional side.

You should know by now that if it ain't Florida, RC will not put a foot on it . Way too scary
I travel to other destinations as well from time to time but still come back to Florida.
Costa Rica? Not my cup of tea, sorry. Half of my family lives in Brazil, no desire for South America either. This is what I like about Florida: I get my shot of South America without actually leaving the United States. My wife speaks fluently Spanish and still has no desire to travel to South America...incl. Costa Rica. We are not really nature type of guys, we are big city people. The only reason we travel to the national parks in the US are the kids, they need to get a bit out of their usual habitat.
Back to topic now, please. Don't want to ruin this wonderful thread with my "weird" travel/living preferences.
