Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

    RC:

Thank you but I think that the Turbo S really looks good in white, I saw almost every color (not Rhodium Silver unfortunately...) live, incl. black (not sure if it was plain black or basalt black) and agate grey and I liked white most. The car has a certain presence in white, for those who want to attract attention, I would recommend racing yellow (better than red in my opinion).

    RC,

For a GT Silver car would you go with a black interior or the black/red interior?

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

I've been going back and forth over colors.  Today this is where I'm at:

    White Exterior
    - Black interior
    - Black/red
    - Espresso
    - Espresso/cognac

This has got to be the toughest choice (colors)!  Lol...

While this obviously isn't the Turbo, this gives you a nice idea of what Espresso looks like.... (anyone know the exterior color?).

With GT Silver, black/red will cheapen the look of the interior. For contrast with an all black interior, you might want to consider deviated stitching.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

    And now the waiting begins....
This afternoon I signed the order of a GT Silver 991 Turbo S with black/Carrera red interior. Options for 36 k including sport tailpipes and reversing camera (the base price of Turbo S in Sweden is 215 k) Coz of those options the productions slot will be in December.

As I will take delivery of the Turbo in Zuffenhausen I have to wait until the winter period is over.
I live in the north of Sweden and to be safe to have good road conditions I will pick the turbo up at first week of May 2014. Smiley

I have only driven a Carrera (991 4S) twice before, never a Turbo. I drove the car a month ago and I think that the peformance is quite impressive. Dunno what I gonna think of the 991 Turbo S, probably insane!

I will thanks all the members of Rennteam who have contribute with valuable information about the Turbo S.
With your help I feel confident that I have make the right decision with this keeper!  wink

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

Congratulations!  Can you please spell out all the options you bought?  I know they can be country-specific, but I was unaware of "sport tailpipes" as an upcoming option...

    Thanks,
    Keith :)

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

    Thank you Keith!
This is my specification, a lot of leather!

Here is the link to Porsche Car Configurator.

This could not be specified until 11/13:
    • 138 Sports tailpipes
    • 638 ParkAssist (front and rear) with reversing camera
    • XXD Carbon door entry guards, illuminated

Not fully specified yet, I (and the security company?) would like to see the car at a map on internet:
The option 674 is only the wiring preparation.
    Porsche Vehicle Tracking System (PVTS)

This is not an option for the Turbo, but it's included in the deal:

    That's it!

...and no price increase accepted (a bit of mumbling but ok from dealer)! Smiley

Excellent question. Silver is a sedate conservative color. When you begin to incorporate bright colors like red with contrasting black or the reverse, you change the aura of the car to from being understated and elegant to something that is borderline gimmicky.

Look at it this way. A nice grey/ muted silver suit with an elegant black tie and....red socks.Smiley

    Hello everyone!

Put in a deposit for the Turbo S 3 weeks ago (1st on allocation list!) and went with white ext/black int. but flip flopped many times and eventually scrapped it and went for Agate Grey ext./ Red/Black int.

Simply cannot wait for this beast!

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

compared the video with the MP4-12C Spider Video from Sport Auto http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dg8Vn3Yso-U the 991 Turbo S takes 31 sec. to 280 km/h and the MP4-12C 23 sec. so quite a difference.

The 991 Turbo S seems only be faster to 100 km/h and not to 160 km/h as stated here.

Guys, I already posted this video a few "pages back" and I explained that this was a test mule under very hot/humid climate (South Africa) conditions. The video has been shot for entertainment purposes only, it has no value of portraying the performance of the car. People who can read are in a clear advantage here... Smiley

Real life performance will be better than the factory claims (just wait and see...), the factory claims are 0-100 kph in 3.1 seconds and 0-200 kph in 10.3 seconds. 0-300 kph performance is "slightly under 30 seconds" according to a source, I suppose 29.something, which would be similar to the Lamborghini Murcielago.

In no review with certified equipment has the MP4-12C achieved 23 seconds from 0-300 kph. Also from 0-100 kph, the MP4-12C stands no chance against the 991 Turbo S. From 0-160 kph both cars are very close in real life testing, from 0-200 kph, the MP4-12C has a 0.5-0.7 seconds advantage according to our sources.

Just wait for the reviews sometimes this autumn, official press presentation is August.

    23 sec. from 0-280 not 300

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

Beige or two tone natural with expresso/cognac would go well with GT Silver. Both would give the interior a richer look becoming of a $200,000 car.

Having different info my Source told me 0-300 for turbo S a around 32 secs. Gearing is longue 7the gear purly overdrive top Speed reaching in 6 gear, so gear ratio 5th gear and 6the gear are pretty long (maybee to long). Still we should not forget the engine is pretty simular to the 997.2 turbo s and we are dealing with just 30hp more.

other thing, the aditional down force over the 997.2 doesnt improvement drag factor in highspeed. Apparently Dörtingerhöhe Top speed is just slightly above 997 turbo s.

Your source is wrong. Smiley 991 Turbo needs 35.x seconds from 0-300 kph and this car has even 10 horses less than the 997 Turbo S. Smiley You are also wrong about down force and drag, a very nice graphic explaining it will be available to the press in August.  Smiley

Yes, top speed is reached in 6th gear but this is nothing new. 6th gear cannot be too long since it limits the top speed to 318.

Porsche listened to customers and critics and apparently they made some adjustments/improvements. Not sure however if these improvements will be available as an update. I guess nothing will happen if the customer doesn't ask for it, so I suggest just talking to your local Porsche dealer if you aren't happy with the steering.

where did i mention the 991 turbo, spoke about 991 turbo s with 32 secs
