Exactly. What happened to him would very likely happen to others too and they would probably end up in the same location he was...
Yep, I guess oil...nasty thing. Still, I think he (completely?) released the brake afterwards and let the car spin until he hit the wall. Not sure he could have done anything but maybe...
It is difficult to "judge" people after such accidents because they can actually happen to anyone.

It did seem that the car was on ball bearings and didn't slow down much... My first thought was that he had his foot off the brake all through it but who knows. It was a long way to spin regardless of the speed.
If oil/antifreeze or something was the cause, pretty much anyone would have spun there.
