I don't know yet if the 997 will benefit from a strut brace as I have yet to take delivery of my car, but it has always been my habit to fit brace(s) to my cars and I certainly will be happier if my C4S is braced.
I admit I am anal when it comes to chassis rigidity: my Mini Cooper S has front upper strut brace, front lower brace, and rear upper brace, plus extra welding. The car certainly drives better, the steering feels sharper and appears more accurate. Ditto my E46 M3.
