Wow. Incredible, incredible wreck. What was that driver thinking carrying so much speed after the race seemed to be finished? Stuck throttle perhaps? Furthermore, what was that marshall thinking standing in such an exposed location?
Thank goodness both are ok, that easily could have been a double-fatality. Scary stuff.

Wow.
I think having the majority of the event happen off camera like that makes it look pretty shocking to me - almost like watching a bullet hitting a target. Did the car come out of the end of a cannon?
Deceleration like that alone could cause brain trauma in some people. Clearly the absorptive materials along with restraint systems in the car plus the integrity of the cage make an incredible difference. Another testimony to modern safety science I guess. Today's drivers have a lot working for them compared to yesteryear's. He is lucky to be alive.
Not much has changed to help the guys on the sidelines. Hope that guy packed a set of clean underwear...
great post.

Incredible. Does anyone know what happened , how did he lost it on the straight? Wish them a quick recovery, great to hear they are both alive.
Let me guess: Blown tire/mechanical failure or overbraking (when he realized too late that he is too fast).
Happy to hear that the driver and the other guy are OK.
