the Evora is a bit of a 911 killer

are there any 911 people looking at these Evoras around here or any Evora owners lurking? i saw one at a car show in Ottawa the last month. it was 2 cars from Montreal, rewalling stunning looking piece of machinery.

i have probably put 60 hours plus in researching and the reviews are quite amazing. the steering sounds so much more real than these 911's are now days.

might as well include on interior - the 2012 forward cars have n impressive build. the leather was gorgeous, it had great stitching and over finnish was superb. beats the Porsche non-full leather cars by a mile.

I like the Evora, its a cool looking car. I just don't think it'll have the reliability a 911 would.

Well that's kind of what I meant. I've always liked Lotus but I also perceive it as a "passion" brand. Great cars but the very limited R&D they do keep them from growing and becoming more reliable and better. I'd only get a Lotus if I had other sports cars and want to complete a garage with something a bit more unique, or if I had enough money not to care if the car breaks down or has issues. Kind of the same thing that happens with Alfas.

Re: the Evora is a bit of a 911 killer

very few sold, at least in the UK ..

you see one once in a blue moon .. very rare

Re: the Evora is a bit of a 911 killer

They don't break down much because the running gear is Toyota.  But the Lotus bits tend to fall off!  I loved my Elise but it wasn't the best daily driver

Re: the Evora is a bit of a 911 killer

Evora handles well, but it is not as a complete car as the 60.000 GBP price would suggest and for sure not as an allround sportscar as a Porsche Cayman. I wouldn't even mention 911 because IMO a good pre-owned 997.2 3.8 PDK is a better bet than the Evora. Both Porsche models could be used as daily cars, if their owners wished to, whereas the Lotus is still a weekend toy car disguised as a GT/allrounder. I'd rather buy an Elise that makes no pretenses and save money too.

Besides, a premium sportscar should have its own bespoke engine and not one borrowed from Toyota. Moreover, the Evora automatic is a torque converter one, when in its class a modern DCT is a must.

The look? A better effort than in the past but  It still has kit-car design leftovers.

I respect Lotus for their heritage derived from the Chapman era, but in the modern day they must try very hard to reach the level of the competition. Is not enough these days for a car to have good steering feel.

This is really a stunning looking car!

Love the interior! Would I buy it over an 911... dont know!

Re: the Evora is a bit of a 911 killer

These are made about 30 minute up the road from me :p I wanted to buy one instead of the boxster (981S) as they are a local company. The issue is build quality and reliability just won't match the Porsche. they are great in the flesh but the Porsche is just so much more useable.
