The new design together with the powerful and frugal V6 turbo engines, the plug-in hybrid and the long wheelbase option will regenerate interest in the Panamera.

    Really? I doubt it. Smiley

The normally aspirated V8 will still be on offer in the GTS, which is a very good choice for the more particular buyer.

The V6 3.0 lt turbo is the engine of choice for  a number of premium cars (see BMW and Audi) because it offers very good PS with more economy, less weight (I think) and in some markets lower taxes. Why not?

Re: Panamera Facelift...according to latest info, not in 2012

    Really like it!

I've never had a problem with the rear, and now it's even better. The roof line is much improved.

The front at non-turbo is good, but on turbo is really great.

And the 3.0 V6 turbo with 420ps is freaking crazy, for basically a standard model.

BMW will put similar engine into next M3. This is Porsche skunkworks at its best.

Re: Panamera Facelift...according to latest info, not in 2012

are there any changes for Turbo and turbo S?

Yes, that is the good news, makes the GTS even more attractive and differentiates it from the S.

I hated the Panamera's ass before, but on this picture it looks sporty and these tail pipes looks awesome....Reminds me of BMW 6-series somehow heart

I thought the same about the resemblance to the 6series.  Smiley

BTW, did the rear window get bigger or is it just an optical illusion? Smiley

Anyhow, I think the rear window does look better now.

Re: Panamera Facelift...according to latest info, not in 2012

I'm on a crappy so called 4G connection in the US right now, so I keep it short: Porsche apparently decided to go for the "minimal design change" option, which is unfortunate for those who waited but as the owner of the pre-facelift, I shouldn 't complaint. ;-) I am very happy to see the V8 in the Turbo and the next year's Turbo S but the power bump is nothing to write home about. I guess Porsche didn't want to invest too much money into the FL since the next gen is rumored for 2015/2016.

Re: Panamera Facelift...according to latest info, not in 2012

In their official statement (Porsche site) they claim this to be the second gen Panamera? That is a joke right.. this is a facelift at best... couple new engines and options with new bumpers on the outside broken heart I guess the Panamera is maturing though..

    Main observations from my side:

    • Good idea to take the VW approach to the headlight cluster redesign :-S

    • Wow, so now even I as a Porsche afficionado can't see the difference between the pre-facelift and the post-facelift models anymore...

I know it sounds a bit negative, guess that opinion will change over time when I have seen it in the flesh, but generally, I am not impressed at all by this facelift.

    Fully agree. !!

The front is ok so far, but not a great cast.
    The back looks awful IMHO

My friend are using BMW 760IL (with driver) on a daily basis. Now he is considering to change it to the Panamera Turbo Executive. Actually I like the extended version more than regular one. It looks just right for me, and the rear "hump" is less noticeable.

But since they modified the tooling for the body parts, which is presumably the most costly modification, I would assume that the cost of the facelift would then have been similar whether the body was substantially or lightly modified?  I would have understood your statement if the body had remained unchanged and only bumpers had been revised.  Or am I missing something? The Panamera name is derived from the Carrera Panamericana in which the 550 in the picture participated in the 50s and I think won its class.

I know, not very direct relation!

Re: Panamera Facelift...according to latest info, not in 2012

Facelift is insignificant. Good for RC. Gen II too close to make an investment on this. But all said & done, Pana does look sleeker somehow...as with all P cars need to see one in the flesh to have an objective opinion. My opinion remains subjective, ie PORSCHE = 911, for the Pana or Pepper, alternatives exist like BMW 750 or RR
