Clio Cup
Where to start. As a kid I was racing karts, at a relatively high level and I have a number of friends who went on and drove and won national and international races (F3000, DTC etc), but many things and not least the cost was getting high and I stopped. After a number of years where I did not race I started slowly to get involved with track day events again and have driven a number of cars mainly racecars on the tracks since (Porsche RS/R models, GT3 cars etc).
When moving to Dubai one of the guys in the street has a raceteam and when we started to talk he slowly lured me into racing one of their cars, first on trackdays and thereafter in races. The car is a Radical SR3. A highly entertaining racecar with low weight, good aero and plenty of power - 260HP to around 550 kilos. It was not the easiest car to make my debut in with a number of very experienced guys in the field, but keeping concentrated and making no mistakes, I managed to take home a 4th place in the first race with 11 cars. That experience made me want more, but these Radicals are not cheap either and I was looking for an alternative.
That alternative, a Clio Cup racecar, is right now packed in a container and on the way to Dubai, just in time to make the last 4 races of the season (October to April). It would be an understatement to say that I look forward to get the car out of that container and get it onto the racetrack. A number of people I know have driven these Clio Cup cars and I have only got positive feedback...Pierre, thanks for your inspirational posts and messages
Here are a few pictures and I will try to follow up from when the car arrives and when I get it onto the track.
