    Victory in Dubai!

We won our class at the 24 hours of Dubai!!! What a race it has been, my second 24h after Spa last year and this one, somehow was tougher (the Cup is a harder car to drive to the 458 GT3 admittedly) but also more tiring, the heat, the traffic and all the events we've had, gearbox, alternator, steering, some contacts,  etc. But it was epic.

Started 2nd in class, dropped last, then crawled back to 1st then back 4th and finally finished 1st, I love endurance racing!Smiley

Mercedes with Black Falcon won the scratch, shame for BMW (I love those Z4 GT3) and AF Corse as always did very well and places 2nd, the very impressive Aston Vantage came 3rd.

Thomas, it was great to meet you mate, sorry we didn't spend more time to chat but as you noticed, it was pretty hectic.

The track is great, very wide, lots of different lines possible, a few turns have proper banking, really technical and fun.Smiley

Well... Smiley Of course Le Mans is the holy grail of endurance racing but it is also a very tough, very dangerous race. I wanna make sure I'm ready before tackling this monster. If I do I promise RC to put a Rennteam sticker on the car!Smiley

Nurburgring of course, first some VLN races to learn the track, Daytona, oh yes, another legendary race. Who knows, maybe.

The 12h of Barhurst look awesome too!

Petit LM, the track looks amazing. We'll see. This year, some VdeV races, the Tour auto in classic car racing and maybe the 24h of Spa again.

    Congratulations Futch!

    Re: Victory in Dubai!

You're on a roll mate!! Congratulations! wink

I always wondered, these modern tracks seem so artificial compared to what we're used to in Western Europe (Spa, Dijon, Nordschleife, ...), are they comparatively 'easier' to compete on?

Make sure never to wash that Cup-car again, it wears its battlescars so well!

    Re: Victory in Dubai!

    Félicitations!

Porker and I are on the same page regarding those battlescars.

    Re: Victory in Dubai!

    Francois,

A BIG congratulations on the victory - Great driving and spirit Smiley

Likewise, it was great to meet and I am sure we will have plenty of opportunities to meet and perhaps race when you come back to race in Dubai. I have already send you some ideas for Dubai in inbox Smiley

I look forward to follow your efforts in 2013, you certainly made a good start to the season.

    /Thomas

Like Porker said...dont wash the Cup blush

    Re: Victory in Dubai!

Congratulations  Futch! I followed some of the race via live timing. I was disappointed to see that there were no Porsche teams in the Pro class (and there was no way that the overall winner was not going top come from that class).

Nice team you had! Soheil Ayari can be quite quick !

    Re: Victory in Dubai!

Wow fantastic achievement! Many congrats, Futch. I salute your commitment ! kiss

    Re: Victory in Dubai!

Congrats man, first of many! wink

    Re: Victory in Dubai!

Thank you everyone. Yes cars look awesome after a long race!

actually by the time it comes back, I will drive it again and won't have time to wash it, maybe just a quick health check.

Yes, Soheil is super fast and super cool. Needless to say, he was key in our performance!

    Re: Victory in Dubai!

Pretty awesome! Fast co-driver or not, one still have to bring the car back in one piece. How would you rate your development curve over the last few years? As I understand it, you started serious racing one to two years ago?

    Re: Victory in Dubai!

You're a top bloke Futch - many congratulations...

    Re: Victory in Dubai!

Many congrats Futch, that is an amazing feat and it must feel great! How long were you racing at a time? I assume 2hrs and then switch between 3 drivers.. each doing three 2hr stints? That must be physically challenging either way, what a great feeling it must be to come in 1st after such a long endurance... looks like the car has battle scars too broken heart

    Re: Victory in Dubai!

    FANTASTIC!

Congratulations, and... I love how your car looks after the battle. blush

    Re: Victory in Dubai!

well done ! I saw a lot of the race in live timig and saw your fight against Black Falcon with Huisman ; )

I did six 24h Nurburgring and 1 24h of Spa and I think that theese are the best races to do !

hope to see you in N24 or Dubai 24 2013 ,

    ciao!

    Re: Victory in Dubai!

    Indeed, it's a bloodsport!Smiley

Ciao Sergini, yes Huisman took the start next to me and needless to say, he anihilated me in one lap, supercup champion vs beginner amateur, no contest.

Black Falcon was actually faster than us but then they broke their rear frame, shame but that's racing and that's what I love in endurance racing, never give up, something unexpected always happens!
