From Rennlist: "That is the configurator for the 991.1 GT3"

    Re: 991.2 GT3 Thread Closed

I knew it was confIgutator for 991.1, but interesting part is it's been off the site for months and just suddenly appeared with a much higher price.  Led me to believe the price is updated before specs and photos.  If we see that exact price again, that would prove the point...

While this might be a total fake, would Porsche not sell more or the less the exact same number of GT3 cars if they hike the price by 15% yes

    Possibly.

However, You can make the same argument if they increased by 20-25%. Ferrari could increase their prices by the same amount as well. The reason why they don't is if they over price a car you lose customer base, customer loyalty and hurt the resale value of the car. Also, There are other economic and competitive reasons like how much do you increase the next model? At some point, you price the car out of the market.

Actually we posted pics of almost no-camo 991.2 GT3 in late November 2016 and apart from front spoiler it do not look any similar to Cup car posted above. Wheels will be the same as on 991.1 GT3. I have all details but can not post them yet...

What is the embargo date end?  Tuesday or closer to Geneva?

This car will get too much attention....

I still believe the .2 will be priced around $140,000.

    Nick,

Are you absolutely sure that this price is wrong? It seems to me like unusual leak on official Porsche NA configurator.

That's the canadian Pricelist of the 991.1 GT3...
But why it "leaks" right now on the Porsche configurator?!

Agree Nick, and my point is that I do not have the answer. It could be 5%, 10% or 15%, but it seems that the GT cars continue to have a high demand. Resale prices very much confirm this, as well as the speculation which is going on with specific models. In the greater scheme of Porsche's profit it is peanuts, but I am not sure they want to ignore it.

At the same time I see new 991's and in particular GTS models selling at similar price than the GT3 here in Middle East, which I do not understand. This point may be different elsewhere.

    Re: 991.2 GT3 Thread Closed

"Porsche 911 GT3 4.0-litre at Geneva... Porsche Cayman GT4 RS 4.0 on the cards..."

    (16 February 2017)

Porsche insiders hint at more powerful Cayman GT4 RS, but not before 650bhp 911 GT2 and manual 911 GT3 arrive...

Porsche could add another ‘RS’ badged car to its range with the introduction of a new hardcore Cayman variant, and insiders have confirmed to Auto Express the possibility of a Cayman GT4 RS.

Porsche has admitted demand for the Cayman GT4 was beyond its expectations, so a new limited edition model to sit above it could make sense. While some rumours point towards it being called the Cayman GT4 R, our sources suggest it could be called the Cayman GT4 RS and will come with a 4.0-litre engine. More recent reports on the web pen that the car has already been leaked on social media by an Australian Porsche dealership.

Two other GT models will beat it into showrooms, though. Porsche’s development driver and brand ambassador Walter Rohrl confirmed to Auto Express that the facelifted 911 GT3 will be offered with a six-speed manual gearbox, and is expected to be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show this March.

The engine capacity will also rise to 4.0 litres and its power output is said to be greater than the 911 R - that means in excess of 500bhp. Improvements in low end torque delivery are also promised thanks to internal revisions within the flat-six engine - Porsche’s development testing will be exhaustive so as not to repeat the problematic introduction of the previous GT3, which was plagued with engine problems.

Porsche will also offer its most demanding customers an even more exciting model above the GT3 when it reveals its first 991-based GT2. The long-rumoured, iconic flagship will retain the rear-wheel drive of its predecessors, but a development of the current Turbo S’s engine in the GT2 will see its output increased from 580bhp and 750Nm of torque to a figure around 650bhp.

Porsche has tested up to 700hp from the engine, but it’s picked 650hp for reliability. Torque output is likely to remain around that of the Turbo S given the GT2’s lack of all-wheel drive, while also ensuring the longevity of the transmission, which unlike the GT3, will switch from manual to seven-speed PDK automatic.

Already undergoing testing around the Nurburgring, the onset of winter has precluded Porsche’s development drivers setting a lap time around the benchmark circuit. However, Porsche’s internal calculations predict a 7 minute 5 second time. Given Porsche’s official figures always quote an achievable, real-world number it’s not unreasonable to expect in the right hands it could well be faster still.

The previous GT2 RS, based on the 997 series, six-speed manual model, had an official laptime of 7 minutes 18 seconds. The fact a Porsche engineer told us that the new 911 GTS, in its most extreme specification with ultra high performance, road legal Pirelli PZero Corsa tyres, could achieve a laptime of 7 minutes 22 seconds demonstrates how quickly the Carrera range has caught up with Porsche’s most extreme performance versions, and the need for its most extreme models to widen the gap.

I guess that's why Porsche is moving the engine in the next RSR angry

The 911 is a fantastic sporty DD, don't get me wrong. And that's why they sell many of them and why they managed to raise the price 60% in the last decade+ while the others struggled to do so. Any serious spor car lover has owned a variant of a 911 at some point. But look around even on this board, many have moved on for various reasons and Porsche doesn't want to build the models to bring them back (yet).

Maybe the 960 will get the green light Smiley

Well...it is coming, very likely but not before 2020. Smiley

Once Porsche can share their own platform with the Huracan and the R8, the "960" is very likely a go (unless the VW Group leadership puts a lid on it... Smiley). In my opinion, it would make more sense to keep a Huracan and a "960" than a R8. Smiley

Let me ask one thing: If Porsche would offer a Cayman GT4 RS, why would someone buy a 991.2 GT3 instead?!

I do not say it is not a possibility, that rumor of a GT4 RS is pretty consistent but either it will be as limited as the 911 R or it will be priced above the GT3.

Either way, it would be a pretty unique car in my opinion.

Agree with you the GT4 RS is a pure fantasm and with a 4.0 engine!! A gt4 with the turbo motor and pdk is more realist. And for sure a great car ;)

I imagine the GT4 RS will have a detuned version of the GT3 motor. That formula has served Porsche well so far. Pricing the GT4 RS above the GT3 would not make sense given the standard pecking order. So, they will detune the motor and claim limitations of intake/exhaust packaging and cooling due to the mid-engine layout. Price it $10K-$15K below the GT3. Done.

I just hope they will still offer a manual.

Even with 450 hp, a GT4 RS would seriously hurt GT3 sales. Especially if it is cheaper than a GT3.

My guesses are: A GT4 RS with the rumored specs (4.0 l "GT" engine, etc.) would cost more or at least the same as a GT3 or it would be very limited in production. Or both. Don't expect another gift from Porsche. Smiley

    +1

If it gets a GT3 engine it will be very limited like a 911R and go mostly to collectors again, and if its not limited it will get the Carrera's Turbo engine and probably be just the new GT4 and not RS.

RS cars will not get anything but PDK. Porsche has stated RS means maximum track performance and that dictates using PDK.

Thank you for confirming that - that was my expectation.  So a GT4RS would be an expensive homologation car for factory racing with PDK only, yes?

I am happy with my decision to go with Manual GT3, if that is the case...

A GT4RS would quite possibly be a base car for a new version of the GT4 ClubSport, guessing the flat 4 turbo in the 718 won't cut it in racing.

Today is the 21st. Where is the GT3.2? :-)

Most probably not today but rather few days before Geneva. Maybe 6th March...
