'13 991S - Plat/Silver-PDK-PDCC-PASM-SC-PSE-CS whl/plat
Beautiful car ! Do you have the 5MM factory wheel spacers installed ? Also can you comment on how you like the PDK ? I have only ever owned M/T and am hesitant to order a PDK for lack of driver involvement. I only use my Porsche for week-ends and Porsche Club drives and own a BMW automatic for my other car.

No I don't have the 5mm spacers as was (and still am) unsure of their aesthetic value. I may have them put on but 5mm seems so little.
I'll begin the PDK issue by stating flat out that I hated it on a 997.2 that I had. I too use the Porsche only for pleasure and weekends and decided on PDK on the 991S for a few reasons. Some of them being a shoulder injury which I have to nurse for a while but also that I test drove a PDK and manual and found the PDK to be more harmonious with the 991 setup. A key factor was how much better and different it is to its predecessor. Night and day! After driving it for a few weeks I really like it and am happy with my decision. I would say that IMO if you opt to go with pdk you really should also choose the sport Chrono plus, sport exhaust, and sport plus suspension. A lack of driver involvement was my concern as well but with the right settings all a pdk box lacks in comparison to a manual is left foot activity and a clutch pedal. I was out a the Porsche Driving School a couple of months ago and saw what a pdk 991S can do in the right hands.... I was simply astounded!
Whatever you choose, I know that you won't be disappointed. The car is a joy to drive. I would suggest test driving both the pdk and manual extensively before ordering. My ideal would be to have a manual setup but also with pdk paddles as a selectable option!

Would be interested in a 'run-down' of the specific differences you're experiencing with PDK between the 997.2 and 991. You describe them as "Night & Day" so just wondered if you could explain the dramatic improvements you've found?

Here's a my take (from a non-techy) on the PDK...The very noticeable differences have been in the ability of the 991 PDK to regain the "sports car feel" that had been compromised in the 997.2 or dare I say it, lost. The gearing has been changed significantly and now feels crisper and I guess raw and more fun than the numbness I experienced with it before. I also think that the current PDK allows for the driver to experience and possibly develop a different set of skills which are more "manual like" than in the somewhat disconnected and "auto" feel of it predecessor. Then there are the fun factor of instant shift induced popping which is sublime!

May I ask if you had SC and PSE on your previous car and, if so, whether you regularly drove it in manual-sports-plus mode?
The reason I ask is that the only time my 997 GTS feels "numb and disconnected" is when I drive in normal-auto mode and that is usually if I'm in heavy traffic or just fancy a relaxed cruise... Thanks for your time..

No worries John. On my 997.2 C4S I did have SC but I no PSE and I drove it in sports plus mode probably 50% of the time. I should say that when I first got it I thought it was fine but within a few days it started to get boring. I eventually swapped it for a 997.2 GT3 which was at the other extreme! From what I've been reading and if it can be believed, the 991 GT3 is going to have PDK. My next 991 will either be a TT but most likely will be a GTS if they introduce it.

Thank you for your kind comments P. I can't wait to see pictures of your car as I'm sure it'll be a stunner.
