    OFFICIAL: Cayenne Turbo S (2012)

The new Cayenne Turbo S assumes top position in the Porsche SUV model range with its engine power of 550 hp (405 kW). With its complex active chassis, the top athlete in SUV clothing surpasses the driving performance of many sports cars. All of the basic Cayenne properties such as versatile offroad capabilities, high ride comfort and superior towing power have been preserved without exception. Its NEDC fuel consumption of 11.5 litres per 100 km is the same as that of the Cayenne Turbo, which makes it more fuel-efficient in relation to its engine power. The new Turbo S model has an extra 50 hp of power compared to the Cayenne Turbo, as well as a torque boosted from 700 Nm to 750 Newton metres, and it converts them into faster acceleration and a higher top speed. The sprint from zero to 100 km/h takes just 4.5 seconds (-0.2 seconds), and the SUV accelerates to a top speed of 283 km/h (+ 5 km/h).

The Cayenne Turbo S was systematically configured for maximum dynamic performance. Therefore, it incorporates all relevant control systems as standard equipment. From the Cayenne Turbo it takes the combination of an air suspension and active PASM damping control. Then there is Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), which reduces the roll angle in curves to practically zero, improving agility and comfort equally. Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), which is also standard, operates with torque vectoring at the rear wheels together with an electronically controlled rear differential lock, which improves traction and therefore offers more agility in every driving situation. The new Cayenne Turbo S is also equipped with the Sport Chrono package as standard.
The exterior and add-on equipment of the Cayenne Turbo S live up to the high standards of a top model. Numerous exterior features such as the air inlet screens, headlight housings and mirror parts are painted in high-gloss black. The standard 21-inch 911 Turbo II wheels with coloured Porsche badges were exclusively designed for the Cayenne Turbo S; their inside surfaces are painted in high-gloss black.

Porsche designers created bi-colour leather packages in new colours and colour patterns specifically for the new Cayenne Turbo S. These interior features are available in black/carrera red or black/luxor beige colour combinations. The bi-colour leather packages that are reserved for the new top model were extended by adding decorative seams in the contrasting colours carrera red and luxor beige. The Carbon interior package complements the leather features and highlights the sophistication of vehicle and materials.

In Germany, the Cayenne Turbo S is priced at 151,702 euros including VAT and deliveries begin in January 2013.

Re: OFFICIAL: Cayenne Turbo S (2012)

The first Turbo S idea was so extreme and very cool/hardcore. Now it's more and more diluted over the years to become just a shelf clean action... But, usually the TTS comes at the end of a life cycle, but the Cayenne is pretty new... It appears to be the bigger brother of the GTS now in terms of ideals. Anyways, I like how Porsche divides their model designations and this is certainly a very damn cool car. I would hold my deposit for a Macan Turbo though... it may be way more modern and hence a better buy (unless you need the space).

Re: OFFICIAL: Cayenne Turbo S (2012)

I agree: The Turbo S model should be something much more special but unfortunately... yes

I went for the Panamera Turbo S because there is nothing sportier and faster in the model range but I would have loved to see a bigger differentiation vs. the regular Turbo.

I guess this is what makes Porsche the most profitable car company on this planet. broken heart

I like a lot the Cayenne turbo but this to me looks like a Turbo with Powerkit + trunk badge and few more interior options. No mention about special exterior colors dedicated to this model or specific brakes / wheels ? Seems not a lot of thought went into it.

    Way too bland.

Presented in white? That tells you all about where Porsche is going. I'll keep my nordic gold TTS that looks much more special and aggressive, thank you...

Is it? its been more tha 2 1/2 years since its introduction. I guess we are very close to see a facelift Cayenne. A year from now?

Re: OFFICIAL: Cayenne Turbo S (2012)

It looks like regular turbo with some additional options!

But the price is 150K Euro! Very high.

GTS is the best one to choose from Cayenne range

Re: OFFICIAL: Cayenne Turbo S (2012)

Was there a powerkit offered for the Cayenne Turbo?  Wasn't there one for the prior generation Cayenne Turbo?  Seems like Porsche bypassed the power kit this time...

Re: OFFICIAL: Cayenne Turbo S (2012)

For the Panamera i'd go with GTS or Turbo S only because they are special and offer value.

The Cayenne, I couldn't ever go for the Turbo.. I'd like it to be more off road styled, the GTS is nice but for this car i'd actually consider a Diesel S... never thought I would say this but they are changing what we like. Still wish Porsche put a V10 TDi in the Cayenne.

2006 Porsche 997 GT3 was also presented in white. Personally I think that every Porsche model looks stunning in white....I don't know what exactly white exterior color tells you about where is Porsche going, I just think that is matter of taste.

I'd never go for a Cayenne Turbo either for the same reasons and a few others. As much of a speed fiend as I am, I find the Cayenne Turbo and Turbo S models to be too outrageous. Yes, they're engineering marvels and change the way we see SUVs, but I see them as symbols of extreme extravagance - you're never going to use all that speed, 0-100 runs at sub-5.0 seconds better suit a sports car/sedan and quite frankly, any SUV that looks like it's bolting towards the horizon at obscene speeds just looks ridiculous. A 911 or a Panamera Turbo I can understand, but a Cayenne? Nah.

I view my Cayenne S as immensely fast and I often find myself cruising past speed limits without realizing. The GTS is a sweet spot and the diesels are brilliant, even if the V6 diesel isn't explicitly fast but still manages to feel so. Let's not forget SUVs are about utility; Cayennes add sport dynamics to the formula unlike any other brand but the Turbos are just mind-boggling. To each his own, I s'pose.

Re: OFFICIAL: Cayenne Turbo S (2012)

Hmm... I agree with you-to some point. If you need an SUV and are absolute speed/power addict-then yes, Cayenne Turbo S makes sense.

Just... Good friend of mine owns new Cayenne Turbo and recent I went with him from Zagreb, Croatia to Reinhessen region in Germany. On autobahn Salzburg-Munich he was driving very fast and was well almost the fastest car. And... Then somebody flashed a lights in car that was coming behinde us. My friend stupidly put the throttle to the floor, but car behinde was closing rapidly! Guy in that car even used blinker(I did not see something like that for a long time on German autobahn) to show that he is clearly faster. Finally, my friend gave up and moved to right lane. Car that overtook us was Munich plates black 997.2 Turbo with older gent(lots of grey hair) on steering wheel. My friend suddenly become frustrated and from Munich to Reinhessen I was driving his Cayenne Turbo(great car BTW, appart  from fuel consumption). While I was also driving pretty fast(sometimes up to 240km/h, he was driving up to 280km/h on the tacho) I got overtaken by new M5, SLS AMG and one Alpina based 5 series. Point is-there are faster cars then Cayenne Turbo/Turbo S on German autobahn.

So, I fully understand Christian point about 997.2 Turbo as perfect car for someone without family.

Re: OFFICIAL: Cayenne Turbo S (2012)

There are certainly cars with higher top speeds than the Cayenne Turbo or Turbo S.  The 997.2 turbo has a top speed on over 190, if I recall correctly.  But that does not mean the CT is not one heck of a fast machine, and one that has the advantages of luggage space, comfort for four, and overall practicality.

Re: OFFICIAL: Cayenne Turbo S (2012)

Love that Story of Kreso and reflects what a lot of people still do not understand buying heavy big cars with huge HP thinking "mine does 290 as well" - but then realize when both pick up speed again at around 180 or so  - a 911/lighter car needs much less time to be back on that speed again... - I have had many discussion where people said - mine has also X HP and thought they are equally fast. People are addicted to 0-100 times and top speed - but in real life means very little....

Re: OFFICIAL: Cayenne Turbo S (2012)

A light sportscar is faster for sure under ideal conditions. However, in bad weather, like heavy rain on a highway, which is the case in many geographical areas most of the year, the heavy, AWD, powerful SUV with its commanding driving position is unbeatable.

True but I actually see the Cayenne Turbo S as some sort of family car for those who can't drive a 911 Turbo anymore. Same goes to the Panamera Turbo S.

Without a family, the 911 Turbo S would be my preferred daily driver. Always. The new 991 Turbo is going to be amazing too if they stick to the current specs. Smiley

I guess they will stick to the current specs, but I think they will not stick to the previous prices. Smiley

Cayenne Turbo S is a nice piece of package and it will find its customer for sure. The price is rather high of course.

When will we get any info on 991 Turbo S BTW?

Re: OFFICIAL: Cayenne Turbo S (2012)

Love my Cayenne Turbo S. Perfect combo of family practicality, driver satisfaction, and--I admit it--exclusivity.

991 Turbo S? Earliest 2015 according to rumors.

The 991 Turbo is expected next year (2013) and if the rumored specs are true, it will blow the competition away.

Unfortunately, like Rossi said, if they keep the currently rumored specs, the price tag of the "old" one won't be kept. Smiley
