It is ugly as hell... Simply tasteless, unintelligent...very curvy... I was expecting something much more. Now, once again, I have realised that F1 was a diamond in Mclaren history.
Telling about it as a successor of F1 is only spoiling F1 image...
In terms of technics it can be interesting, but no real revolution...short boost kers, monocell monocoque almost the same as in MP4-12C, revised front and rear subframes...quite light although, around 1300kg

This car makes the MP4-12C look good...
The MP4 got a lot of bad press for looking too civil. Seems like McLaren is missing the mark on the opposite end of the spectrum this time. Maybe their next car will be a beauty, smack in the middle between over the top and slightly boring.

I am not in love with it or in awe of it, but it looks very modern and hi tech. I like it much more than the somewhat conservative and timid 918. Performance of course will be mental, as is the case with all hypercars.
PS: I always found the F1 visually boring as hell.

FERRARI RULES!!!
The 918 looks perfect in my eyes. It preserves the looks of its ancestors and it improves on them. Like the more beautiful grandchild of a beautiful grandparent. Why divert for the sake of it when your inherent design has power combined with timeless elegance?

......the 918 is no "beauty" either.
You should know better by now. Critisising P cars is prohibited in here.

FERRARI RULES!!!
I am big Porsche fan and IMHO 918 is far from any form of "beauty". 918 interior is far superior in desing then its exterior, again IMHO.
P1? Ugly... BUT, according to what I know much faster then 918.
1300 kg ( vs the F1 's 1150 kg ) is pretty amazing when you have to factor in the weight/mass added in the intervening 18 yrs for current safety , braking, traction mgmt requirements all cars today have .
That's about 320 kg less than most current Tier 1 competitors - like carrying 4 fewer adults in the car !

I don't find it that bad. McLaren is till looking for it's own style. The car will probably look much better in the flesh and with another color. The back could actually be interesting . The weight figure is impressive. The MP4 was not striking in deseign either when shown for the first time, but people got used to it and it does look much better in real life then on photos.
