    Wow moose, phantastic!
I am so in love with the 993, and this 4s looks pristine! The width of the rear fenders is insane, but suits the car very well. Thanks for the beautiful pictures.

    Finally!! devil

Looking good, I also love the 993. You found yourself a great example. After owning it for a while, how are your impressions? Do you used it on a regular basis or only on sunny Sundays?

Is there a specific license plate holder for the Swiss front plates? That´s the only thing I would change on it.

    kiss

    Re: 98 white C4S - Pics.....finally!!

Absolutely gorgeous, you don't see white cars from this era that often.

I'd go for an adhesive film front plate, if it's legal in Switzerland.

No, there is no specific license plate holder . You can use what ever you want or , not use any.

As to the film front plate.... well It was tolerated, but not anymore.

Beautiful Moose!  I love the 993 and the C4S looks so purposeful!  The C2S grille looks retro - I must google the original to see how different it is again.

We seem to have the same taste in watches as Porsches!  I'm still trying to decide if the white is all stock, or whether the original would have had black underskirts (or whatever they're called!) below the doors and at the front fender..?  And those slats in the front fender - is that a "Turbo-look" accessory?  And below the grill, there appears to be a long expanse of hood before you reach the red strip.  mmm maybe I'm imagining things here.  Or is there a missing decal?

Gnil appears to be the guy I tend to agree on the most when it comes to design - he's only commented on the number plates on this post - Gnil, are you holding something back..?!

Thanks Carlos. I'm informed by Porsche that only 14 white ones were manufactured to that spec in 1998, 10 of which were purchased by Ruf. This is one of those 10.

Indeed regions. The original black grill is safely bubble wrapped and stored in case I need it one day. I'm a big fan of keeping things original, but somehow I had to give in to the temptation of the C2S double kidney grill....and I'm glad I did.  I love it! Smiley

I love the 991, but there's nothing like the sound of a rasping air cooled engine sucking in all that air, and as much as I love the performance improvements of modern 911's, nothing beats the analogue, connected feeling you get when you drive one of these. If you make a mistake, you'll find out sooner rather than later Smiley

Thanks sfo. I must admit, I've also not seen a white 993 (most of the ones I've seen around are black, blue, polar and arctic silver, and red).

Somehow the white shows off the curves beautifully. The more I look at it the more I realise how much I love it Smiley

The cost? I'd love to quote the mastercard advert and say priceless Smiley ..... but let's just say that once I paid all the import costs, I could have bought a new 991 Smiley......but it was worth it! Purchased directly from Porsche with all the guarantees, only 18,500km on the clock, in pretty much mint condition, completely stock with the original paintwork, and a huge compliment from the chief technician of the local Porsche dealership where the emissions test was carried out. Examples of this quality are rare to find and I consider myself very lucky to be able to own one.

What can I say Ferdie....the noises in my head got so loud I had to go out despite the crappy weather and take some pics. After all the great input I've received from you all I feel I owe it to the board Smiley

I would change the plate holder, but I'm too lazy and use the same plates for 2 cars (one of the benefits of living in Switzerland), the other being a big Range Rover Sport.

What can I say Budster. You're clearly a man of good taste Smiley

Here's a pic I originally posted with the original grill:

    IMG_0490.JPG

Apart from that one change (and the Bilsteins I mentioned earlier), the car is completely stock. All the skirts and spoilers can from the factory in white as the C4S had the turbo bodykit of the 993 turbo.

The white expanse you referred to would have been where the model insignia would have been but this was also a factory delete option.

Spectacular 993! Was it produced or delivered in March 1998?

Spectacular 993! Was it produced or delivered in March 1998?

I believe it came off the production line at the end of February 1998 and was delivered in March. To the best of my knowledge, production of 993's finally ended in June 1998 so this is really one of the last ones to be manufactured, and it shows.

14 years later everything still feels tight. No rattles or shakes. It's often been said that the post 1994 993's were the most over-engineered production cars Porsche ever made. I don't know if this is true, but I can say mine is a gem.

Now all I have to do is find a good valet company to touch up some tiny paint chips and bring it up to mint condition again Smiley

excellent decision .. but I am surprised at the expense.

still wonderful though, looks sensational in white, and will always be beautiful, the type of timeless beauty very very few cars manage.

    LOVE it.

I agree sfo, the prices for good ones are a little crazy. I've been watching 993 prices slowly climb over the last 6 or 7 years with good examples fetching a premium. For example, when I first starting looking for one in 2005, I found a beautiful one in Germany with the following spec:

    • 1996 993 2S
    • 48,000km with full Porsche service history
    • loaded with options (can't remember what they were now but Litronics and LSD were among them)
    • black black with excellent paintwork (original with no respray)
    • EUR 45,000

In my opinion it would be almost impossible to find a car of this quality now for less than EUR 60,000. Over time, I don't see this trend reversing as road worthy 993's become rarer. Having said that, I would never buy any car as an investment (unless it was a something of the caliber of a DB4GT Zagato or a 250 GTO of course!).

I bought this simply because it's been a dream of mine to own one since I first saw one almost 20 years ago (a bit like the child in this classic Porsche commercial, except I was already in my 20's when the 993's beautiful lines and air cooled flat 6 left an impression):

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sWPHKU1XZU&feature=results_main&playnext=1&list=PLFBC3829885BC2552

Does anyone have a link to the original commercial?? If memory serves right, this is a re-make of an original commercial I saw in Germany with either a 964 or a 993.
