    Borg Warner Turbo Systems is Supplier of the Year (CORRECTION)

     

    Stuttgart. Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, has honoured its ten best suppliers of the past year in the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart Zuffenhausen. Borg Warner Turbo Systems GmbH in Kirchheimbolanden received the first prize for proving itself as an innovative partner in the area of turbocharging for petrol engines. 

    In his speech, Uwe Karsten Städter, Member of the Executive Board Procurement of Porsche AG, encouraged suppliers to continue to boost their efforts in matters of quality and prepare their supply chains for growth to be ready for the challenges of the coming years. 

    In his speech, Matthias Müller, President and CEO of Porsche AG, emphasised the brilliant prospects for the automotive industry as a whole: “We all have an auspicious future before us. With great self-confidence, we can face the extraordinary challenges the future will bring.”

    Alongside Borg Warner Turbo Systems, Porsche honoured nine other suppliers with the Porsche Supplier Award 2011 for their outstanding performances.

     

    Seriously? What about the "titan" turbocharger issues (Cayenne/Panamera Powerkits and Panamera Turbo S)? Just saying... Smiley

    UPDATE: Borg Warner has nothing to do with the issues, the manufacturer is MHI. Sorry about that.

    Possibly the design was Porsche and the execution BW. Was the design at fault or the materials and manufacturing?

    BW built it to specs (flow, etc.) but the technical design is 100% BW, incl. the titan (Ti/Al) impeller.

    Today, the German media report a call on Pana and Cayenne turbos with the powerkit ... the turbos are going to be replaced completely...it seems, this is not the best week for BW...

    UPDATE: According to new information, Borg Warner is not the manufacturer of the "titan" turbo chargers.

    We have to apologize for the wrong information and the accusations.

    No, Borg Warner did not contact us but when we are wrong, we have to make it right.

    The manufacturer of the titan turbochargers is MHI.

    Sorry about that.

    Why? Aisin makes excellent Tiptronic gearboxes for the off-road capable Cayenne.

    So many German transmission manufacturers. It"s like "made in Germany".  I'd rather have my Porsche with German major components.

    I'm not sure but I think that the decision for Aisin was taken because of VW (Toureg) and also because it is very suitable for off-road use with the technology Porsche is using. Just a guess though...only Porsche knows. 

    Many don't know that the Tiptronic S on the 997.1 and older cars was actually a Mercedes product. Smiley

    PDK is from Borg Warner if I'm not mistaken.

    I knew about Mercedes but only on the 996 and 997 turbo. Others couldn't handle the high torque.

    Also, if I'm not mistaken the 997.1 manual was from Aisin?

    ZF...right, sorry. Borg Warner did the VTG chargers on the 997 Turbo. I always confuse them. Smiley

    Except for one of the cables breaking (careful they will eventually) my 997 manual is the best one I have had in 30 yrs of 911 ownership. 8+ years so far -

    Not familiar with MHI - I don't have a turbo so this thread is over my pay grade.  Would be interested how those original shocks (PASM) are holding up for the older 997s.  Still loving my PSS9 (NON-PASM) change over.
